Abstract: “ACTIVE WAVELENGTH CONVERTER FOR USE WITH OTDR, composed of: an optoelectronic circuit 5, comprising a photodetector 6, an amplifier 7, a comparator 8, a laser driver 9, an output laser 10, a laser temperature control circuit 11, and an optical circuit 12, comprising an optical fiber segment 13 with a filtering device 14. The converter 4a is composed of an optoelectronic circuit 5, connected in parallel to the optical circuit 12 by a coupler 15 and a circulator 16. The optical signal emitted by the OTDR 1 through fiber 2a is received by the coupler 15 and sent to the optoelectronic circuit 5, where it is converted from an optical to an electric signal, amplified, saturated, reformatted and converted back to an optical signal again, at a wavelength different from the signal emitted by the OTDR 1. It is then sent to the circulator 16 that transmits this changed signal to the optical fiber 2b, where it is propagated.

Abstract: Processing an electronic order involves receiving from a mobile customer device first order data for an order that contains less than a minimum set of data required by a merchant to completely process the order. Additional information required by the merchant to completely process the order is retrieved. Second order data is generated based upon the first order data and the additional information. The second order data contains at least the minimum set of data required by the merchant to completely process the order. The second order data is provided to a merchant for processing.
Abstract: Isolated nucleic acid fragments and recombinant constructs comprising such fragments encoding a delta-8 desaturase along with a method of making long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) using this delta-8 desaturase in plants and oleaginous yeast.
Abstract: Expression of at least one plant oleosin gene in a microbial cell engineered to produce hydrophobic/lipophilic compounds significantly increases the overall titer of the compound. The hydrophobic nature of the oleosin core is believed to increase the microbial host cell's internal storage capacity for any hydrophobic/lipophilic compound. The method is exemplified using a bacterial host cell engineered to produce significant amount of various carotenoids.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an anti-theft device which is a transmission line mounted on an object to be protected against theft, such as a door or a window, wherein a safety system is connected to the elongated metal to supply power to the anti-theft circuit of the elongated metal and to detect and judge the signal of the anti-theft circuit of the elongated metal. When the window or the door is broken, the anti-theft device will be easily torn at the respective apertures. At this moment, the safety system cannot receive the signal from the anti-theft device, so it will identify the intrusion of theft and notify the security or guard. Thereby providing an anti-theft function.

Abstract: A dual camera system uses a single lens and no moving parts in the optical path. A single lens directs a desired scene to a partially reflective beamsplitting mirror, thence to a pair of image sensors. For day/night operation, one sensor may be optimized for nighttime sensitivity, while the other is optimized for daytime operation. Alternatively, one optical path may have greater magnification, thus allowing electronic zooming with no resolution loss. The system may be enhanced with an image intensifier for nighttime operation; digital sensors for improved resolution, or orthogonal gyroscopic accelerometers for image stabilization. Additionally, the monochrome and color images may be produced simultaneously and ‘fused’ algorithmically, yielding an improvement in sensitivity and color resolution compared with a conventional color camera.
Abstract: Compositions comprising a modulated tocol content in a plant or plant part are provided. In specific embodiments, the compositions and methods of the invention modulate tocol content by modulating the level of a polypeptide having a LEC1-type B domain in combination with modulating the level of at least one other polypeptide involved in tocol biosynthesis. Plants, plant parts, grain, seed and oil having the modulated tocol level are also provided. Methods to enhance oxidative stress tolerance of a plant or plant part, increase shelf-life, enhance the nutritional value, and improve tissue quality are also provided.

Abstract: A fully digital camera system provides high-resolution still image and streaming video signals via a network to a centralized, server supported security and surveillance system. The digital camera for collects an image from one or more image transducers, compressing the image and sending the compressed digital image signal to a receiving station over a digital network. A plurality of image transducers or sensors may be included in a single camera unit, providing array imaging such as full 360 degree panoramic imaging, universal or spherical imaging and field imaging by stacking or arranging the sensors in an array. The multiple images are then compressed and merged at the camera in the desired format to permit transmission of the least amount of data to accomplish the desired image transmission. The camera also employs, or connects to, a variety of sensors other than the traditional image sensor.

Abstract: A nozzle controls flow of melt in injection molding equipment by passive actuation with opening and closing of a mold assembly. The nozzle comprises a valve pin having a pin passage therethrough movably supported within a nozzle passage and a contact arm transverse to and extending beyond the nozzle passage, the valve pin sealingly engaging the nozzle passage. Biasing means biases the valve pin to a closed position preventing passage of melt through the nozzle. The contact arm effects movement of the valve pin to an open position when closing of the mold assembly exerts a force on the contact arm to overcome the biasing means. A mold arrangement of plural mold assemblies comprises pairs of nozzles of the invention to control flow of melt through mating conduit segments between an injection unit and at least one mold assembly, the nozzles arranged and configured for seating engagement with abutment of the conduit segments.
