Abstract: A first electrophoretic medium comprises an electrically charged particle suspended in a suspending fluid, the particle having a polymeric shell having repeating units derived from at least one monomer the homopolymer of which is incompatible with the suspending fluid. A second, similar electrophoretic medium comprises a suspending fluid, and first and second types of electrically charged particle suspended in the suspending fluid, the two types of particle having differing optical characteristics but both having polymeric shells. The polymeric shells are arranged such that homoaggregation of the two types of particles is thermodynamically favored over heteroaggregation.

Abstract: Processes for effecting thermal transfer of electroactive organic material are disclosed wherein unwanted portions of a layer of electroactive organic material supported by a donor element are removed or transferred from the layer by thermal transfer, particularly laser-induced thermal transfer, leaving a desired pattern of the electroactive organic material on the donor element. The electroactive organic material may be an organic material exhibiting electroluminescence, charge transport, charge injection, electrical conductivity, semiconductivity and/or exciton blocking. The layer of electroactive organic material may comprise more than one layer of different types of electroactive organic material. The exposure pattern is a negative image of the desired pattern. The electroactive organic material of the desired pattern is not, therefore, exposed to the heat which can cause decomposition.
Abstract: A physical process causing the effect of preserving fish or meat food throughout long periods of time, tens of months, thereby preserving the properties of a fresh product, such as its color, smell, texture and taste, while preserving the proteic and vitaminic contents of the original product, is revealed. In the case of fish, the process consists of the following steps: a) Capturing, eviscerating, cleaning, and washing the fish, all in an hygienic environment; b) Keeping said fish under moderate cold, using ice scales or adequate cold facilities; c) Cutting the fish in agreement with the commercial requirements to be satisfied; d) Subjecting the fish to an initial quick freezing process reaching ?5° C.

Abstract: A substrate treatment apparatus is disclosed. The substrate treatment apparatus has an electrostatic chuck mechanism, a grounding mechanism, and an electron beam radiating mechanism. The electrostatic chuck mechanism electrostatically sucks and holds a substrate under treatment. The grounding mechanism freely contacts a predetermined film of a plurality of films formed on a treatment surface of the substrate under treatment sucked and held by the electrostatic chuck mechanism. The electron beam radiating mechanism radiates a resist film formed on the treatment surface side of the substrate under treatment with an electron beam.
Abstract: In electrophoretic media, it is advantageous to use pigment particles having about 1 to 15 per cent by weight of a polymer chemically bonded to, or cross-linked around, the pigment particles. The polymer desirably has a branched chain structure with side chains extending from a main chain. Charged or chargeable groups can be incorporated into the polymer or can be bonded to the particles separately from the polymer. The polymer-coated particles can be prepared by first attaching a polymerizable or polymerization-initiating group to the particle and then reacting the particle with one or more polymerizable monomers or oligomers.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for enrolling an external account having an account identifier in an incentive maximizer account, receiving a credential for the external account, and receiving a payment preference for the external account. The method includes periodically accessing external account to detect presence of new account activity. If new account activity is detected, a balance transfer to the external account from the incentive maximizer account is scheduled automatically based on the payment preference.
Abstract: An insulated power cable contains a multi-strand cable of a plurality of bundles of uninsulated wires, and electrical insulation sheathing the cable, the electrical insulation having a thickness of from 0.0625 to 0.5 inches (0.16 to 1.3 centimeters) and having a plurality of layers of spirally-wrapped, creped tape, the tape having at least 50 percent by weight of an aramid material, and a density of from 0.1 to 0.5 grams per cubic centimeter prior to being creped.
Abstract: This invention relates to an isolated nucleic acid fragment encoding an aspartate kinase. The invention also relates to the construction of a chimeric gene encoding all or a portion of the aspartate kinase, in sense or antisense orientation, wherein expression of the chimeric gene results in production of altered levels of the aspartate kinase in a transformed host cell.
Abstract: The invention provides methods for the production of full-color, subpixellated organic electroluminescent (EL) devices. Substrates used in the methods of the invention for production of EL devices comprise wells wherein the walls of the wells do not require surface treatment prior to deposition of electroluminescent material. Also provided are EL devices produced by the methods described herein.

Abstract: A device combines a fuel control valve in a hollow can and a carbon canister, which can be further combined with a fuel tank. The device has a first chamber for preventing draining fuel and a second chamber containing active carbon. The first chamber is formed with a gas tube which is connected to the fuel tank and a gas channel connected to the second chamber. The second chamber is formed with a gas return tube. As such, the device combining the fuel control valve and the carbon canister is constructed. The hollow can is assembled to a lateral wall of the fuel tank and the gas tube can be connect with the fuel tank to form an integral structure.
Abstract: A device combining a two-way valve and a carbon canister includes a hollow can, which can be further combined with a fuel tank. The device has a first chamber for regulating inner pressure of the fuel tank and a second chamber containing active carbon. The first chamber is installed with a gas tube which is connected to the fuel tank and a gas channel connected to the second chamber. The second chamber is installed with a gas return tube so as to form the device combining the two-way valve and the carbon canister. The hollow can is assembled to a lateral wall of the fuel tank and the gas tube can be embedded into the fuel tank to form an integral structure.
Abstract: Network appliances for use in combination with a network based full service, multi-media surveillance system provide a wide range of monitoring techniques utilizing digital network architecture. The appliances may be connected to the surveillance system for transmitting event data, video and/or image monitoring information, audio signals and other data over significant distances using digital data transmission over networks such as a local area network (LAN), a wireless LAN (WLAN), a wide area network such as the Internet for other networks, permitting remote manual and/or automatic assessment and response. The wireless LAN connectivity permits local distribution of sensor information audio, video and image data with relatively high bandwidth without requirement of a license and without relying on a common carrier and the fees associated therewith.
