The apparatus has a platform upon which the portable color instrument is secured, a sample stage with multiple index planes upon which a color sample is placed, and a device which urges a pressure foot against the color sample, thereby holding the color sample in position on the stage with a uniform and repeatable force.
Abstract: The disclsoure describes an electric conductor having a coating layer with the property of strippability so that it can be stripped from the electric conductor, and a method for controlling the strippability of the coating layer from the electric conductor, with the electrical insulation properties of the cable coating being kept constant after exposure to moisture. The method involves adding to a polymeric composition forming the coating layer a predetermined amount of a polyolefinic compound, which contains at least one unsaturation and at least one carboxyl group in the polymer chain.
Abstract: A system for channel assignment in a trunked transmission communication system including a plurality of subscribers. A plurality of subscribers is provided home channel assignment to reduce collisions. A home channel alias is provided for home channel coverage where a designated home channel is unavailable. A system for call grouping is provided to avoid talk group splitting. A first check is used to determine if other channels are conducting communications with identical home and talk group information. A second check is available after a temporary channel assignment. In one system both the home channel aliasing and call grouping are performed.

Abstract: An ignition apparatus for use with an internal combustion engine to produce an electrical spark at a spark ignition device. The ignition apparatus includes triggering circuitry having a processor with stored timing data. The processor receives a signal indicative of the rotational position of the magnet and generates a triggering signal. The triggering circuitry switches between a first mode wherein the triggering signal occurs at a fixed time relative to top dead center and a second mode wherein the triggering signal occurs at a variable time relative to top dead center based on the stored timing data.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for strengthening a paper or textile article. The method involves (a) applying to the article a solution of an amorphous fluoropolymer in a perfluoroalkane solvent; and (b) drying the article. Also disclosed are strengthened paper and textile articles which include a fibrous paper or textile substrate, and amorphous fluoropolymer interconnecting fibers of the substrate.

Abstract: This invention relates to thermoplastic interlayers for laminated safety glass with superior vacuum de-airing at elevated temperatures and superior tacking and edge sealing properties. The sheeting has surface pattern on at least one of the surfaces characterized by flat surfaces with substantially uninterrupted channels for air flow in at least two intersecting directions. The channels allow for rapid de-airing while the area roughness parameter ratio ARp/ARt in the range of 0.52 to 0.62, ARt being less than 32 &mgr;m, and area kurtosis less than 2.5, allow for ease of tacking of the interlayer onto glass and edge sealing after de-airing has been completed. Said surface pattern may also be superimposed onto a pattern which is generated by melt fracture or other means on at least one side to enhance de-airing and aid edge sealing.
