Abstract: A solid product dispenser can be used to form a dilute liquid solution from a block of solid concentrate. In cases where only a small amount of liquid solution is needed, the solid product dispenser may dissolve the block of solid concentrate quickly and substantially uniformly to provide a solution of controlled concentration. This can be contrast with larger dispensing applications where a dispenser may dissolve a block of concentrate slowly at the start and more rapidly as the dispensing progresses, producing a solution with an average concentration higher than if only a small amount of solution were produced using the dispenser. In one example, the solid product dispenser includes a fluid distribution reservoir and a solid product reservoir positioned inside of the fluid distribution reservoir and over a platform on which the solid product sits. High pressure fluid flows between the two reservoirs, turbulently contacting the solid product.

Abstract: The invention provides methods and compositions for the protection of a membrane from both biofouling and from damage caused by a biocide. The invention utilizes PAA as both a biocide and as a reducing agent for other oxidizing biocides. This is especially beneficial because without the invention one would be forced to choose between preventing membrane biofouling or preventing membrane damage from oxidizing biocides.
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for improving safety and delivery of commercial application of cleaning compositions that include enzymes and other protein irritants. The methods reduce the mist and aerosolization of proteins so that inhalation and exposure to the same are reduced. According to the invention, when commercial pressurized sprayers are used to apply protein containing use cleaning compositions of up to 5 ppm protein, aerosolization is decreased to below 60 ng active protein per meter cubed. Applicants have also identified a specific metering tip/nozzle, dispense rate, and low pressure application of not more than 100 psi are critical to achieving the benefits of the invention.

Abstract: A product packaging may include a solid product block for a dispenser system comprises a solid product block having a top, sides, and a bottom, a handle attached to the top of the solid product block, and a water-soluble foil enclosing the solid product block or the handle. Thus, a safe handling of the solid product block when loading or unloading the substance from a dispenser is enhanced without the risk of a person handling the substance getting into direct contact with the substance.

Abstract: A method of fluorometrically detecting the concentration of chemical components in oxidizing formulations is disclosed. In a particular embodiment the detection is of the stabilizing component of picolinic acid, present in such formulations, although any component which fluoresces may be detected. According to the invention sample preparation of the oxidizing formulation includes adding to said sample an excess of reducing agent to bind peracid, and in the case of picolinic acid, adding to said sample an excess of terbium chloride. The sample then is subjected to radiation to induce fluorescence and the concentration of said chemical component is determined by a linear relationship between fluorescence emitted and the concentration of the target chemical.

Abstract: A paper-making aid composition, as well as processes for increasing tensile strength in paper and paper-making processes are provided. The paper-making composition comprises an anionic dialdehyde-modified polyacrylamide and a polyamide polyamine-epichlorohydrin (“PAE”) resin present in the paper-making aid composition at a weight ratio of PAE resin to anionic dialdehyde-modified polyacrylamide of from about 5:1 to about 1:1.6. The processes utilize an anionic dialdehyde-modified polyacrylamide and PAE resin at certain ratios. The anionic dialdehyde-modified polyacrylamide and PAE resin may be added to the pulp slurry as a composition or separately.
Abstract: A method of cleaning equipment such as heat exchangers, evaporators, tanks and other industrial equipment using clean-in-place procedures comprising applying a pre-treatment solution prior to the application of an override use solution. A gas generating use solution is present in either the pretreatment or the override use solution. The gas generating use solution is capable of releasing gas on and in a soil, resulting in a soil disruption effect and enhanced cleaning.
Abstract: Acidic viscoelastic cleaning compositions are disclosed which use non polymer thickening agents. According to the invention, cleaning compositions have been developed using viscoelastic surfactants in acidic cleaning formulations. These provide the dual benefit of thickening as well as an additional cleaning, thereby improving performance. Applicants have also identified several pseudo linking agents which when, used with viscoelastic surfactants provide enhanced viscoelasticity and cleaning.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to the use of diphenyliodonium salts for lowering sulfide concentrations and for preventing growth of microbes in a water injection system, a hydrocarbon extraction system, or a hydrocarbon production system. Treating oilfield injection and produced fluids containing high levels of microbes with diphenyliodonium salts can significantly decrease the amount of hydrogen sulfide produced, which can be used to measure sulfidogenesis. The treatment can also decrease the number of microbes in the injection and produced fluids. Thus, these diphenyliodonium salts can be effectively used as inhibitors of hydrogen sulfide generation and as biocides in oilfield fluids.
