  • Publication number: 20160033771
Abstract: A method for displaying an image viewable by an eye, the image being projected from a portable head worn display, comprises steps of: emitting a plurality of light beams of wavelengths that differ amongst the light beams; directing the plurality of light beams to a scanning mirror; modulating in intensity each one of the plurality of light beams in accordance with intensity information provided from the image, whereby the intensity is representative of a pixel value within the image; scanning the plurality of light beams in two distinct axes with the scanning mirror to form the image; and redirecting the plurality of light beams to the eye using a holographic optical element acting as a reflector of the light beams, whereby the redirecting is dependent on the wavelength of the light beam, to create for each light beam an exit pupil at the eye that is spatially separated from the exit pupils of the other light beams.

  • Patent number: 9252252
Abstract: This invention describes a novel electronic device consisting of one—or more—vertically stacked gate-all-around silicon nanowire field effect transistor (SNWFET) with two independent gate electrodes. One of the two gate electrodes, acting on the central section of the transistor channel, controls on/off behavior of the channel. The second gate, acting on the regions in proximity to the source and the drain of the transistor, defines the polarity of the devices, i.e. p or n type. The electric field of the second gate acts either at the interface of the nanowire-to-source/drain region or anywhere in close proximity to the depleted region of the SiNW body, modulating the bending of the Schottky barriers at the contacts, eventually screening one type of charge carrier to pass through the channel of the transistor. This is achieved by controlling the majority carriers passing through the transistor channel by regulating the Schottky barrier thicknesses at the source and drain contacts.

  • Patent number: 9228494
Abstract: A new gas turbine-fuel cell Hybrid Cycle is proposed. The fuel cell advantageously operates close or under atmospheric pressure and is fully integrated with the gas turbine that is based on an Inverted Brayton-Joule Cycle. The idea of the invention is to capitalize on the intrinsic oxygen-nitrogen separation characteristic of the fuel cell electrolyte by sending to the Inverted Brayton-Joule Cycle only the anodic flow, which is the one free of nitrogen. In this way the flow that expands in the turbine consists only in steam and carbon dioxide. After the expansion the steam can be easily condensed, separated and pumped up. Therefore the compressor has mainly only to compress the separated carbon dioxide. This effect generates a substantial advantage in term of efficiency and enables separating the carbon dioxide.

  • Patent number: 9231594
Abstract: New logic blocks capable of replacing the use of Look-Up Tables (LUTs) in integrated circuits, such as Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the new logic block is a tree structure comprised of a number of levels of cells with each cell consisting of a logic gate or the functional equivalent of a logic gate, one or more selectable inverters, and wherein the inputs of the logic block consist of the inputs to the logic gate or functional equivalent of the logic gate and inputs to the selectable inverters. The new logic blocks can map circuits more efficiently than LUTs, because they include multi-output blocks and can cover more logic depth due to the higher input and output bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 9206509
Abstract: The invention includes a controlled graphene film growth process including the production on the surface of a substrate of a layer of a metal having with carbon a phase diagram such that, above a molar concentration threshold ratio CM/CM+CC, where CM is the molar metal concentration in a metal/carbon mixture and CC is the molar carbon concentration in the mixture, a homogeneous solid solution is obtained. The metal layer is exposed to a controlled flux of carbon atoms or carbon-containing radicals or carbon-containing ions at a temperature such that the molar concentration ratio obtained is greater than the threshold ratio to obtain a solid solution of carbon in the metal. The process further includes an operation for modifying the phase of the mixture into two phases, a metal phase and a graphite phase, leading to the formation of at least a lower graphene film at the metal layer incorporating carbon atoms-substrate interface and an upper graphene film at the surface of the metal layer.
