Abstract: A digital filter bank having a number J?1 of stages is disclosed. For each integer j such that 1?j?J, the j-th stage includes a plurality of filtering units (20, 21) each receiving an input signal of the j-th stage. These filtering units include a low-pass filtering unit (20) using real filtering coefficients and at least one band-pass filtering unit (21) using complex filtering coefficients. Following each band-pass filtering unit of the j-th stage, a respective modulus processing unit (25) generates a processed real signal as a function of squared moduli of complex output values of the band-pass filtering unit. The input signal of the first stage is a digital signal supplied to the digital filter bank, while for 1<j?J, the input signal of the j-th stage includes the processed real signal generated by at least one modulus processing unit of the (j?1)-th stage.

  • Patent number: 8941512
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for encoding and decoding information. In one aspect, methods of encoding information in an encoder include receiving a signal representing information using a collection of discrete digits, converting, by an encoder, the received signal into a time-based code, and outputting the time-based code. The time-based code is divided into time intervals. Each of the time intervals of the time-based code corresponds to a digit in the received signal. Each digit of a first state of the received signal is expressed as an event occurring at a first time within the corresponding time interval of the time-based code. Each digit of a second state of the received signal is expressed as an event occurring at a second time within the corresponding time intervals of the time-based code, the first time is distinguishable from the second time.

  • Publication number: 20140347672
Abstract: The disclosed invention describes a new apparatus performing a new data acquisition for quantitative refractive index tomography. It is based on a linear scanning of the specimen, opposed to the classical approaches based on rotations of either the sample or the illumination beam, which are based on the illumination with plane waves, which orientation is successively modified in order to acquire angular information. On the contrary, the inventive apparatus and method rely on a specially shaped illumination, which provides straightforwardly an angular distribution in the illumination of the specimen. The specimen can thus be linearly scanned in the object plane in order to acquire the data set enabling tomographic reconstruction, where the different positions directly possess the information on various angles for the incoming wave vectors.

  • Patent number: 8872240
Abstract: The present invention exploits the combination of the amplification, provided by the integration of a FET (or any other three terminal active device), with the signal modulation, provided by the MEM resonator, to build a MEM resonator with built-in transistor (hereafter called active MEM resonator). In these devices, a mechanical displacement is converted into a current modulation and depending on the active MEM resonator geometry, number of gates and bias conditions it is possible to selectively amplify an applied signal. This invention integrates proposes to integrate transistor and micro-electro-mechanical resonator operation in a device with a single body and multiple surrounding gates for improved performance, control and functionality. Moreover, under certain conditions, an active resonator can serve as DC-AC converter and provide at the output an AC signal corresponding to its mechanical resonance frequency.

  • Patent number: 8863096
Abstract: A symbolic execution task is dynamically divided among multiple computing nodes. Each of the multiple computing nodes explores a different portion of a same symbolic execution tree independently of other computing nodes. Workload status updates are received from the multiple computing nodes. A workload status update includes a length of a job queue of a computing node. A list of the multiple computing nodes ordered based on the computing nodes' job queue lengths is generated. A determination is made regarding whether a first computing node in the list is underloaded. A determination is made regarding whether a last computing node in the list is overloaded. Responsive to the first computing node being underloaded and the last computing node being overloaded, a job transfer request is generated that instructs the last computing node to transfer a set of one or more jobs to the first computing node.
