  • Publication number: 20140166681
Abstract: A cosmetic compact has a pan made from an elastomeric material. The pan is elastically biased to a size that is smaller than a pre-formed cake of cosmetic product. The empty pan is temporarily expanded by applying vacuum to a bottom and sidewalls of the pan. The cake of cosmetic is inserted in the expanded pan and the pan is released from the vacuum. The pan contracts toward the smaller size and thus traps and holds the cake in the compact.

  • Patent number: 8703161
Abstract: Compositions and methods for enhancing repair of damaged DNA in skin cells. Topical compositions comprising at least one agent that upregulates circadian gene expression in skin cells and at least one non-circadian agent that delays mitosis in skin cells. Preferably, such compositions comprise one or more keratinocyte clock and per1 gene activators, along with SIRT1 or one or more sirt1 activators. More preferably, the sirt1 activator is a synergistic combination of specific peptidic sirt1 activators and resveratrol. Preferably, such compositions are easy to use, efficacious, cosmetically acceptable, chemically, thermodynamically and light stable, safe for topical use, have little or no side effects, and commercially feasible in a personal care marketplace.

  • Patent number: 8666770
Abstract: Methods of developing equations for objectively assigning or predicting an apparent age are disclosed. Advantageously, the equations of objective apparent age may be based on a relatively small number of critical parameters combined in a way that accounts for all or most of the apparent skin aging in a defined population or sub-population. Despite the relatively small data collection requirements, the present invention includes an objective model of apparent age that is useful for evaluation of products, useful for predicting treatment outcomes and useful for predicting the effects of deteriorative factors. The formalization of an Objective Apparent Age Score allows one to identify the biophysical and biochemical parameters that mostly influence an individual's apparent age, and can be used to select specific anti-aging treatments with increased chances of visible success. The Objective Apparent Age Score may also be used to support marketing claims.
