Patent number: 5511468Abstract: A fruit juice extracting machine has a pair of opposing endless cup chains extending around a rotatable reamer wheel. The peel guide or retainer holds reamed peel halves in cup until ejector directs peel half into peel chute. A filler plate panel substantially closes off the reamer wheel to help to prevent the accumulation of stagnant juice or pulp. A peel chute behind the reamer wheel has a back surface with slotted opening to recover additional juice and pulp as the peels are ejected from the cup chain and collide against the back surface of the peel chute. The new cup track is a stiffer structure for maintaining the cup chain in proper engagement to the reamers, for improved yield and reduced wear. A full width bulkhead divides the juicing area from the peel chute area.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1995Date of Patent: April 30, 1996Assignee: Automatic Machinary and Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Ronald C. Patent number: 5512881Abstract: Alarm apparatus which generates a repetitive sound wave having at least two pulses of predetermined frequencies within a predetermined interval of time. A resonator generates the clock frequency therefor. The resonator may have a low tolerance of less than about 0.1 percent so that at least two pulses may be detected by a receiver having a similarly low tolerance so that false triggering of the receiver by other transmitters or background noise may be prevented. A plug is inserted into the alarm housing to maintain circuitry for initiating operation thereof open. Pulling of the plug from the housing allows the circuitry to close to initiate operation of the alarm. A push button is provided on the end of the plug to close the circuitry for initiating operation of the alarm while the plug is inserted into the apparatus. Once the alarm has been initiated, the circuitry is such that the alarm cannot be inactivated except by removal of the internal power source.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1993Date of Patent: April 30, 1996Assignees: Alertcall, Inc., MKM Electronics, Inc.Inventor: Kashyap Majmudar

Patent number: 5513215Abstract: In a simulcast communication system, a method and apparatus for compensating differences in propagation time, lack of synchronization in transmitters, and multipath fading to recover data transmitted to a receiving device. In a simulcast communication system(26) that comprises a plurality of transmitters (32), a receiver (36) includes a digital signal processor (DSP) (86) that processes a demodulated received signal to adaptively compensate for changes in the channel through which a multipath signal is propagated from the transmitters to the receiver. In one embodiment, the DSP comprises a decision feedback equalizer. An error signal is produced by the equalizer through a comparison of the estimated symbols with symbols most likely transmitted, for use in updating filter coefficients used by the equalizer in processing the received signal. Alternatively, in a linear adaptive equalizer, reference or pilot symbols transmitted with the data symbols are used to determine the error signal.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1993Date of Patent: April 30, 1996Assignee: Glenayre Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Robert F. Patent number: 5510783Abstract: An adaptive keypad which has one or more keys includes, for each key, a pressure transducer positioned below a semi-rigid faceplate where the pressure transducer has a resistance which decreases as the pressure compressing the transducer increases. The transducer is connected in series with a capacitor to define an RC circuit for each key. Each RC circuit has a charge time proportional to the pressure applied to the key. A time capture circuit initially and thereafter intermittently, obtains the charge time for each RC circuit for each key and computes a conductance value from that time. The initial conductance value is stored in a memory. A comparing circuit intermittently compares the initial conductance value with each subsequent conductance value generated for a key. If the comparison value generated is greater than a predefined amount, a signal is generated indicating that a key has been depressed.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1992Date of Patent: April 23, 1996Assignee: Interlink Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Stewart M. Patent number: 5510957Abstract: In an electronic device in which a control unit is detachable from an equipment body, the control unit is engaged and detachably secured to the equipment body by a locking member and a temporary retaining member. A lock release unit causes the locking member to disengage the control unit. When the locking member disengages the control unit, the temporary retaining member retains the control unit and causes the control unit to protrude from the front of the equipment body. Thus, the control unit is temporarily retained by the temporary retaining member in the protruding position and is not allowed to fall off the equipment body onto the ground or floor. In addition, since the operating member is moved to a position where it protrudes from the front of the equipment body, the control unit is easy to remove by hand.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1995Date of Patent: April 23, 1996Assignee: Alpine Electronics, Inc.Inventor: Katsuhiko Takagi
