  • Patent number: 5345552
Abstract: A windowing control for a video display includes a programmed controller, a video display including a screen and a raster for scanning the screen, a first memory having a first area for storing data to be displayed in a first window defined on the screen and a second area for storing data to be displayed in a second window on the screen and a second memory for storing the addresses of the data to be displayed in the first and second windows and the transitions between the windows. The controller includes a processor programmed to load data into the first and second memory means and a memory controller for initiating the transfer of data from the first and second memory to a pixel multiplexer. The processor is also programmed to load new address data into the second memory means for each complete raster scan so that the position of the data within the window has the appearance of horizontal (panning) or vertical (scrolling) movement.

  • Patent number: 5340674
Abstract: A luminescent screen assembly for a CRT is made by first coating the interior surface of a faceplate panel with a photoconductive layer which overlies a conductive layer. A multiplicity of red-, green- and blue-emitting phosphor screen elements are then deposited in color groups, in a cyclic order, onto the interior surface of the panel. A negative charge is then established on the photoconductive layer. The charge is weakened in the areas where the photoconductive layer underlies the phosphor screen elements, but unaffected in the open areas separating the phosphor screen elements. The charged, open areas of the photoconductive layer are discharged by flood illumination and reversal developed by depositing thereon particles of light-absorptive matrix material having a triboelectric charge of the same polarity as the charge established on the photoconductive layer. The novel process provides a high opacity matrix.

  • Patent number: 5340098
Abstract: A single sheet supplier from a plurality of sheets inserted to reach a pair of inclined corner tabs past a resiliently restrained and under a roller. The roller is selectively rotated to force a paper sheet in contact therewith past the pair of inclined corner tabs which partially and temporarily block the progress of the sheet corners thereby causing them initially to buckle and then snap forward to separate the sheet engaged by the rollers from the remainder of the stack.

  • Patent number: 5337751
Abstract: A deflation control system for the pressurized cuff of an automatic blood pressure gauge uses a pressure sensor to control solenoid valves. The solenoid valves are responsive to respective pulse signals having variable duty cycles to change their time-apertures and, thus, their flow rates. The duty cycles of the pulse signals are controlled to maintain a desired constant rate of pressure reduction in the cuff. A microprocessor generates a control value which determines the duty cycles of the pulse signals. This value is proportional to the initial volume of fluid in the cuff and to a predictive term which is provided from a table that is indexed by cuff pressure. This value is then augmented by a feedback term, generated by a feedback control loop to ensure an accurate deflation rate. The gain of the feedback loop is selected so that the feedback correction signals do not interfere with pulse signals modulating the pressure signal. The feedback term is normalized by the initial volume measurement.

  • Patent number: 5339393
Abstract: A computer editing system graphical user interface includes at least one central processing unit (CPU) coupled through appropriate input/output (I/O) circuitry to input devices, such as a cursor control device, and a display device. The CPU is further coupled to a storage device for the storage of data and programs including a database. The database comprises a plurality of source logs indicating a beginning point and an ending point defining all the available source material for the corresponding source log. An output sequence of selected source material is displayed on a timeline as source material blocks, wherein the source material blocks are defined by a head point and a tail point. Through the computer editing system, a user performs a variety of re-editing functions to trim existing source material and to insert new source material on the timeline. When performing a re-edit function, all available source material blocks for a source log selected for re-edit is displayed.

  • Patent number: 5339114
Abstract: A video input signal to be displayed is applied to an offset clamp circuit which effects a DC offset of blanking and active video portions of each video line. The DC offset or shift is of an amount and in a polarity sense to place the black level of the active portion of an NTSC color standard signal at a level corresponding to blanking level of the NTSC color standard. Advantageously, subsequent clamping at the shifted level enables contrast control without altering the black level of displayed images.

  • Patent number: 5337236
Abstract: A trip distance recorder for a motor vehicle includes a character display and several front panel keys. The recorder stores an operator-definable "trip type" code associated with each key. At the start of a trip, an operator presses one of the keys to select one of the stored codes. The recorder then displays the selected trip type code and elapsed distance for the trip. At the end of the trip, the recorder stores the trip code, distance and date as an entry in a data base maintained in non-volatile memory. The recorder generates printed trip reports based on the information contained in the data base.
