Abstract: The present invention comprises novel single-functional and mixtures of multi-functional oligomeric performance additive compounds having one or more components of Structure A R1 ? ? ##STR1## (The definitions of R, Z1, Z2, Z3, A1, A2, A3 and y are given in the Summary Section), their uses and polymeric compounds and compositions containing them which have enhanced oxidative stabilities, enhanced ultraviolet (UV) and light stabilites and/or enhanced flame retardance. An example is the bis sulfonic acid bispotassium salt reaction product from an oligomeric caprolactone diol (TONE.RTM. 260), 2-sulfobenzoic acid anhydride and potassium carbonate, and use of this product, at levels up to about 3.0%, in a general purpose bisphenol A polycarbonate resin, to enhance the fire resistance or flame retardance of the polycarbonate resin.

Abstract: An improvement in the preparation of printed circuits comprises inserting a deformable layer between the phototool or support layer, and the solder mask. The deformable layer provides a uniform, integral and relatively thin coating of solder mask over circuit components, and results in higher-quality solder joints and lower rejection rates for finished boards.

Abstract: The invention relates to a composition which is usable for the stabilization of thermoplastic resin against the effects of heat and/or light. This composition comprises a hydrotalcite, a zinc zeolite and a zinc carboxylate. It is applied, more especially, to thermoplastic resins containing halogens, and in particular to PVC.
Abstract: Polymeric flame retardants comprise halogenated aromatic compounds having acylamino functional groups which are chemically bonded to cyclic imide-containing or imide-forming polymers or copolymers. The polymeric flame retardants are prepared by the reaction of halogenated aromatics containing a reactive hydrazido group with some or all of the anhydride groups of an cyclic alpha, beta-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride polymer or copolymer to form pendant halogenated-aromatic-substituted imide or amic acid groups. In addition, polymeric film retardants are used to render thermoplastic resins less flammable under conditions which promote combustion. Novel flame retardant hydrazides are disclosed.
Abstract: Stabilized polyurethanes, polyureas and polyurethane-polyurea polymers having hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS) bonded thereto by means of a hydrazide functionality attached to the HALS are provided. The synergistic effect of a second amide functional group in the HALS-hydrazide provides improved photostabilization efficiency as compared to HALS-hydrazides of the prior art.
Abstract: Promotion of paint adhesion and corrosion resistance on the surface of a non-ferrous metal such as aluminum by contact with an aqueous acidic solution containing an anionic polyacrylic/polyacrylamide copolymer, ammonium zirconium fluoride, nitric acid, and water.
Abstract: A composition is disclosed for dissolving sulfur and preventing or removing sulfur plugs from sour gas and oil wells or other conduits through which sulfur bearing liquids flow which comprises a major proportion of a liquid or gaseous mercaptan, a minor proportion of a catalyst which is a substantially water-insoluble amine, and minor amount of an activator which is a compound of the formula ##STR1## where R is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or alkaryl and the alkyl moieties have from 1 to 24 carbon atoms, and x and y are independent values between 0 and 24 provided that x or y is at least 1; a method is also disclosed wherein said composition in an effective amount is injected into a conduit to prevent or remove sulfur plugging, and the composition containing dissolved sulfur is optionally recovered.
