C., the processes for their preparation, and the use of these novel compositions in curing of unsaturated polyester resins and in initiating polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers.
Abstract: A process for producing a substantially pure organic trisulfide from mercaptan and sulfur (or high rank organopolysulfide) wherein the sulfur is reacted with mercaptan in the presence of a heterogeneous alumina-based catalyst, ammonium, alkali metal or alkaline earth metal modified silica-based catalyst, zinc-based catalyst or mixtures thereof, and recovering a product containing at least a major proportion of trisulfide.

Abstract: N-benzyl-N-organo-substituted aminoalkanol is prepared by reacting benzyl chloride or substituted benzyl chloride with an organo-substituted aminoalkanol in the presence of a molar excess of the starting aminoalkanol and, optionally, water, and in the absence of a) an organic solvent for the reactants and b) alkali metal hydroxide. A portion of the excess aminoalkanol may be substituted with an alternative amine or dissolved alkali metal carbonate.

Abstract: Aqueous paint stripper formulations containing a solvent system comprised of an ester such as benzyl formate and methods for using the same to strip paint.
Abstract: A process for producing a novel catalyst wherein an amorphous alumina gel is formed at least on the surface of an aluminum-containing material, the gel is heated to form crystalline .alpha.- or .beta.-alumina trihydrate and the trihydrate is sulfided, the product of said process, and the method of producing mercaptans from alcohols or ethers and hydrogen sulfide at elevated temperature in the presence of said novel catalyst, are disclosed herein.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for the selective preparation of 3-aminomethyl-3,5,5-trialkylcyclohexylamine by preparing dried 3-cyano-3,5,5-trialkylcyclohexylimine from the reaction of 3-cyano-3,5,5-trialkylcyclohexanone with ammonia in the presence of a drying agent in an amount at least sufficient to retain the water present or generated during the imine-forming reaction, and hydrogenating the dried 3-cyano-3,5,5-trialkylcyclohexylimine in the presence of a cobalt-containing catalyst at elevated temperature and pressure.
Abstract: A composition for coating glass by chemical-vapor deposition comprises a mixture of a tin oxide precursor monobutyltin trichloride, a silicon dioxide precursor tetraethylorthosilicate, and an accelerant such as triethyl phosphite; the composition is gaseous below 200.degree. C., and permits coating glass having a temperature from 450.degree. to 650.degree. C. at deposition rates higher than 350 .ANG./sec. The layer of material deposited can be combined with other layers to produce an article with specific properties such as controlled emissivity, refractive index, abrasion resistance, or appearance.
