  • Patent number: 7498818
Abstract: An apparatus and method detects an open condition of a grounding path provided by a rotor grounding brush electrically connecting a rotor body of a rotor to electrical ground. The rotor includes an insulated field winding wrapped around the rotor body and is configured to generate a magnetic field upon receipt of an exciter voltage across lower and upper extremities of the insulated field winding. The method includes applying a square wave voltage signal to a second end of each of a first and a second buffer resistor, where a first end of each of the buffer resistors is operatively connected to respective upper and lower leads of the exciter voltage source, and calculating the total capacitance between the insulated field winding and electrical ground. The total capacitance when compared to a pre-selected capacitance value is determinative of the absence of the grounding path.

  • Patent number: 7497495
Abstract: A method for concealing a fastener beneath a floor carpet in an automotive vehicle. A flap is first cut in the carpet and that flap is retracted away from an opening in the carpet formed by the flap. An object, such as a floor console, is then attached to the vehicle by securing the object to the vehicle with a fastener extending through a portion of the object aligned with the carpet opening. The flap is then replaced in the opening to conceal the fastener.

  • Patent number: 7499829
Abstract: Disclosed is a laser rangefinder and method thereof. By using characteristics that noise has non-correlation and signals have correlation, laser beams are output to a target to find a range to the target with iteration rates of thousands of times per second, signals for each range-finding are binary-quantized using a sampling frequency corresponding to a range-finding resolving power, and data are accumulated. After this, the accumulated data are processed in a statistical manner to detect a target signal and produce a target range based on the target signal. According to the present invention, the rangefinder for outputting low-power laser beams, using the laser beams reflected from the target, and detecting a range to the target, easily and accurately detects target signals in the noise.
