  • Publication number: 20090021515
Abstract: Systems and methods for high performance ray tracing scene graphs are provided by constructing a complex three dimensional special structure of sectors and nodes. Sectors are regions of space which can take any shape or size in three dimensional space. The non tree-based space partitioning structure allows rays to traverse the spatial structure to directly resolve the primitives they intersect. Traversal cost is efficiently minimized by constructing large sectors to contain empty space and constructing relatively smaller sectors to contain the geometric primitives. Each sector contains information associated with each of its surfaces including whether the surface leads to another sector or a node.

  • Patent number: 7479100
Abstract: A system for creating and dispensing cushioning dunnage includes a plurality of material shaping members to convert a sheet stock material into a continuous strip of cushioning product. The shaping members include a constant-entry roller assembly having at least two tapered rollers supported end to end for rotation about respective ones of first and second axes arranged at an obtuse angle whose aspect faces a circumferential side of the rollers that first engages sheet stock material traveling over the rollers from a supply roll of the material. The tapered rollers present material engaging surfaces on an imaginary material conversion line transverse to the travel direction of the material where the material first engages the rollers for more precise and consistent control of alignment of the stock material. The roller assembly has free ends over which the sheet stock material can be folded to reduce the width of the material traveling over the rollers.

  • Publication number: 20090018810
Abstract: A method for determining the amount of open sky view of an antenna in an automotive vehicle. A computer simulation of the vehicle objects that are non-transmissive to electromagnetic radiation is first created while a simulated antenna is also positioned within the computer simulation. Thereafter, a plurality of spheres, each having a different radius, are simulated between a position adjacent the antenna and to a position outside the vehicle. All of the vehicle objects are identified for each sphere and the area saved to memory. Finally, the area of each object is projected onto an outer sphere and these projected areas are then summed. The sky view is then calculated by comparing the amount of the projected area on the outermost sphere and the sky view result is then displayed to the user.
