Patent number: 8812236Abstract: A method for optimizing drilling fluids by creating a proper particle size analysis and distribution curve of particle sizing within drilling fluid. The particle size distribution curve is maintained with a maximum particle sizing of 6 microns so as to not allow for coarser drilled solids to degrade beyond the point of mechanical separation to prevent a build-up of low gravity solids that can no longer be removed from the drilling fluid during the drilling operation due to their size. An optimal drilling system requires that drilling fluids be modified through the following process to attain the appropriate particle sizing distribution to: make the most efficient use of the drilling operation, reduce the amount to drilling fluids utilized, and reduce formation damage. The method generates corrective actions to modify the drilling fluids or adjust solids control equipment parameters, to obtain a unique particle size distribution throughout the drilling process.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2014Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Assignee: Particle Size Engineering, LLCInventors: Thomas W. Patent number: 8812821Abstract: A programmable processor and method for improving the performance of processors by expanding at least two source operands, or a source and a result operand, to a width greater than the width of either the general purpose register or the data path width. The present invention provides operands which are substantially larger than the data path width of the processor by using the contents of a general purpose register to specify a memory address at which a plurality of data path widths of data can be read or written, as well as the size and shape of the operand. In addition, several instructions and apparatus for implementing these instructions are described which obtain performance advantages if the operands are not limited to the width and accessible number of general purpose registers.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2012Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Assignee: MicroUnity Systems Engineering, Inc.Inventors: Craig Hansen, John Moussouris, Alexia Massalin

Patent number: 8807686Abstract: Including either a platen or a flat bed, and a printer head; the printing device is configured in such a way as to print by making a combination of a reciprocating motion of the printer head and an operation of discharging ink toward a white medium. Meanwhile, the printer head includes a plurality of heads individually corresponding to each color. The printing device includes a control unit for setting a test pattern for testing each color, and pattern print areas where the test pattern is printed. The control unit makes a setting in such a way that, for the pattern print area where a test pattern is printed by discharging white ink of a nearly-identical color as a color of the white medium, the test pattern is printed with the white ink on a primer print prepared with black ink.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2010Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Assignee: Mimaki Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kosuke Murai

Patent number: 8811397Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for communicating data. A user terminal is connected to a first data communication network, and a first network node is connected to the first and a second data communication network. A gateway is connected to the second and a third data communication network. The user terminal packetizes data according to protocols corresponding to a protocol stack. The user terminal further transmits packetized data to the gateway via the first network node and via the first and second data communication networks and determines whether the packetized data arrived at the gateway. The user terminal also modifies the packetized data by replacing at least a part of a first header corresponding to a specific protocol of the protocol stack with a replacement. When the gateway receives the packetized data it depacketizes the data and generates, based upon replacement information, a specific payload according to a predefined protocol.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2010Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Assignee: NCP Engineering GmbHInventor: Andreas Baehre

Publication number: 20140225626Abstract: A plurality of measurement signals may be evaluated to detect a poorly damped oscillation mode in an electric power delivery system. An oscillation mode of interest may be detected, and the oscillation mode of interest may be analyzed using a frequency transform. A plurality of amplitudes of the oscillation mode of interest in each measurement signal may be determined using a sliding window. The plurality of amplitudes may be used to calculate a damping of the oscillation mode of interest. The damping may be calculated solving a linearized system of equations. The linearized system of equations may be a least square estimate of the damping based on the logarithm of each amplitude. If the damping indicates that the oscillation mode of interest is poorly damped, a control action may be taken.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2014Publication date: August 14, 2014Applicant: Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Vaithianathan Venkatasubramanian, Zaid Tashman, Hamed Khalilinia

Publication number: 20140229443Abstract: A file cloning mechanism allows for quickly creating copies (clones) of files within a filesystem, such as when a user makes a copy of a file. In exemplary embodiments, a clone of a source object is at least initially represented by a structure containing references to various elements of the source object (e.g., indirect onodes, direct onodes, and data blocks). Both read-only and mutable clones can be created. The source file and the clone initially share such elements and continue to share unmodified elements as changes are made to the source file or mutable clone. None of the user data blocks or the metadata blocks describing the data stream (i.e., the indirect/direct onodes) associated with the source file need to be copied at the time the clone is created. At appropriate times, cloned files may be “de-cloned.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 14, 2014Publication date: August 14, 2014Applicant: HITACHI DATA SYSTEMS ENGINEERING UK LIMITEDInventors: Daniel J.N.
