  • Patent number: 6789569
Abstract: The pressure relief valve has a spring pressure-loaded diaphragm closing body (13), which in the closed position sealingly engages on a centrally positioned valve seating surface (10) surrounding a first valve opening (8). Its spring pressure loading takes place by means of a counterpressure body (13) positioned centrally over it. The valve seating surface (10) is surrounded by a channel-like valve chamber (11) in the valve housing body (2) and on which is provided on the overpressure side at least one second valve opening (9). To be able to dissipate high overpressures, the counterpressure body (30) is surrounded by a diaphragm support ring (17) held on the valve housing (6) and which has a circumferential recess (19), whose depth measured perpendicular to the diaphragm closing body (13) determines the maximum deflection of said body (13), so that when the valve is completely opened the diaphragm closing body (13) is supported in an area between the valve seating surface (10) and its outer edge.

  • Patent number: 6790651
Abstract: According to the present invention, hybridization reaction and washing steps can be carried out continuously without taking out the substrate from the apparatus, thereby simplifying manipulation of the experiment. A reaction solution or a washing solution is injected with a pump 6 and discharged with a pump 22 into and from a case 3 which accommodates a substrate 1 immobilized with biological substances. As the substrate 1, a disc-shaped substrate with a throughhole at the center is used. An agitator 2 is placed in the throughhole to agitate the reaction solution or the washing solution during the hybridization reaction or the subsequent washing, thereby shortening the reaction time and the washing time.

  • Patent number: 6791876
Abstract: A plurality of bit lines are divided into a plurality of groups each including Y (Y: integer of at least two) bit lines. Y data read data lines passing a data read current therethrough in data reading are provided along with Y connection control parts electrically coupling Y bit lines and the Y read data lines with each other every group. Therefore, the connection control parts electrically connected with the Y read data lines are uniformly divided so that parasitic capacitance applied to the read data lines following electrical connection with the connection control parts can be suppressed. Therefore, the time for charging the read data lines to a prescribed voltage level can be reduced for executing high-speed data reading.

  • Patent number: 6791088
Abstract: A leak detector using an infrared emitter and pyroelectric sensor to form an instrument for identifying the presence and concentration of a selected material type gas compound, such as a refrigerant gas compound within a given sample, such as a sample of ambient air. For the detection, a radiation flux coming from an infrared emitter penetrates the sample, which is analyzed spectrally, and results in a wave length-specific signal being generated at the output of the detector. By controlling the type of optical filter, the radiation energy is controlled at a selected wavelength, to ensure coverage of all selected compounds. For refrigerants, the selected wavelength can be between approximately 8 to approximately 10 microns in the wavelength range. This selected wavelength obscures other signals, thus minimizing false alarms. By not chopping or pulsing the emitter, the leak detector has a faster response time with no adverse impacts on the accuracy of the compound material being detected.

  • Patent number: 6790300
Abstract: Method and apparatus for registering and bonding upper and lower substrate plates together through a sealer material and in such a way as to form a gap of a predetermined width between the two substrate plates. Registered substrate plates are provisionally pressed to form a joined substrate assembly, which is then pressed under heated conditions at a hot press station, thereby compressing the sealer material into a flattened form and at the same time thermally hardening the sealer material to form a predetermined gap space between the two substrate plates. In order to correct positional deviations which occur to the upper and lower substrate plates in the course of the hot pressing, on the basis detected positional deviations of upper and lower substrate plates of a hot-pressed substrate assembly, upper and lower substrates are set in offset positions instead of aligned positions when registering them at the provisional press station to cancel predicted positional deviations at the hot press station.

  • Publication number: 20040177022
Abstract: A method of issuing and managing investment instruments called “Pension Shares” which preferably take the form of securities that represents a claim against and is secured by an investment fund. A Pension Share entitles its holder to receive, at a specified maturity date, either a lump sum payment amount or, at the option of said holder, to receive a sequence of annuity payments. The Pension Share issuer creates and manages the investment fund such that its net asset value at the maturity date will be adequate to make the lump sum payment or provide the holder with the annuity. A preferred form of Pension Share provides an annuity option of one dollar per for the life of the holder, or his or her survivor, both of whom are at a predetermined age at the maturity date. A Pension Share may be redeemed on demand in advance of the maturity date so that it may be exchanged for a Pension Share having a different maturity date if the holder's plans change.
