  • Patent number: 11808539
Abstract: A method for forming a set of gun barrels, comprises: machining an elongate key along a length of a metal billet; mounting the metal billet on a machining jig, clamped along the key; performing CNC milling operations on the mounted metal billet in a 5-axis CNC milling machine to form a set of gun barrels having a pair of bores and a rib, the rib extending lengthwise proximate the elongate key; and, separating the set of gun barrels from the key along the length of the rib section. The present invention provides for significantly faster machine production with no manual handling of the workpiece throughout the milling operations. This makes the milling operations more accurate as the workpiece remains in position throughout, without reloading. Holding the workpiece along a key which runs the length of what will become the rib of the barrels avoids any loading of the workpiece in areas that need to be machined.

  • Patent number: 11808800
Abstract: An interferometric radioimager provides real-time, high-fidelity radioimaging of high voltage breakdown (HVB) both internal and external to electrical components at sub-nanosecond and sub-millimeter resolution and has an ability to resolve multiple/spatially-extensive HVB simultaneously. Therefore, radioimaging can be used to screen for early life weakness/failure and enable non-destructive screening of defective electrical components. In particular, radioimaging can detect precursors to catastrophic HVB, allowing for early detection of weakness in critical electrical components. Radioimaging can also be used to track HVB and pinpoint defects in electrical components real time, including transformers, capacitors, cables, switches, and microelectronics.

  • Publication number: 20230349452
Abstract: A radial-type anti-backlash nut for use upon linear actuator leadscrews uses a separate housing resting upon the actuator’s main nut. The anti-backlash action is a multi-finger collet and spring setup located inside the housing. The collet tapers radially inward toward tips of the fingers at a specified taper angle. The whole interior length of an internal thread of the collet engages an external thread of the leadscrew. The housing is a pre-load nut with an internal tapered surface that mates with the collet fingers with substantially the same taper angle. The pre-load nut, when screwed onto external threads of the adjustment nut, both compresses a load spring and applies radially inward adjustable load force to the collet fingers against the leadscrew. Three tolerances adjust load: the taper angle of the main nut’s collet fingers, the spring load’s compression, and the collet finger mismatch with respect to the lead screw.
