Abstract: A device and method determines available regenerative braking energy in a route for a target vehicle. The device is in communication with a navigation unit and is configured to split the at least one route between a source and a destination into multiple segments followed by determining vehicular data of the target vehicle. The device determines available/recoverable regenerative braking energy in the at least one route for the target vehicle based on selective vehicular data of other vehicles similar to the target vehicle, which have travelled through the at least one route. The device is configured to dynamically predict the available regenerative braking energy originating from random longitudinal deceleration maneuvers for the chosen route from source location to the chosen destination location for any hybrid or electric vehicle. The device improves fuel efficiency and reduces emissions.

Abstract: A system and methods for a turbo-boost control system are disclosed for providing a driver of a vehicle with greater control over vehicle performance. The turbo-boost control system instructs an electronic control unit of the vehicle to increase the manifold pressure to a higher level before releasing the pressure through a waste gate so as to provide a greater power output of the engine. The turbo-boost control system includes a control module, a wiring harness, and a signal adjuster. The wiring harness couples the control module with a turbo inlet pressure sensor, a manifold absolute pressure sensor, and an electronic control unit of the vehicle. The control module sends signals to the electronic control unit based on input readings from the turbo inlet pressure sensor and the manifold absolute pressure sensor. The signal adjuster includes a rheostat that enables manual adjustment of the power output of the engine.
Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) air filter to remove airborne molecular contaminants and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from air within building spaces. The air filter comprises a support frame having a shape and size suitable to orient the air filter within a HVAC system. A compound filter medium is retained within the support frame to remove the airborne molecular contaminants and VOCs from air flowing through the HVAC system. A portion of the first media layer is pleated and may comprise a combination of media layers configured to exhibit a relatively high filtration efficiency and a low air pressure drop across the filter medium. A second portion of the filter medium is coupled to the first portion and maintains a uniform distribution of the pleats with the first portion.

Abstract: A calibration method for an x-ray computerized tomography system and a method of tomographic reconstruction are provided. The calibration method includes steps of measuring at least one point spread function (PSF) at each of a plurality of points, compressing each PSF, and in one or more storing operations, storing the compressed PSFs in a computer-accessible storage medium. The PSF measurements are made in a grid of calibration points in a field of view (FOV) of the system. In the measuring step, an absorber is positioned at each of the calibration points, and an x-ray projection is taken at least once at each of those absorber positions. In the method of tomographic image reconstruction, projection data from an x-ray tomographic projection system are input to an iterative image reconstruction algorithm.

Abstract: A floor vent assembly with slots for airflow having a structure and interaction between an air vent and a slider with an actuator extending through the air vent to permit manual sliding of the slider in the floor vent assembly to selectively open/restrict the air vent for airflow. The floor vent assembly may also have an internal structural plate with corresponding slots. The user simply manually moves the actuator and thus the slider within the floor vent assembly where respective slots align or are offset to allow or restrict the flow of air through the floor vent assembly.

Abstract: The present invention relates to 3D printer inputs including filaments comprising separated layers or sections. These inputs particularly including filaments may be prepared by coextrusion, microlayer coextrusion or multicomponent/fractal coextrusion. These inputs and specifically filaments enable layering or combining different materials simultaneously through one or more nozzles during the so-called 3D printing process. These techniques facilitate smaller layer sizes (milli, micro, and nano) different layer configurations as well as the potential to incorporate materials that would otherwise not be usable in standard 3D printer methods.
