  • Patent number: 9920795
Abstract: A clutch assembly is disclosed having a clutch housing and a shaft. A clutch pack selectively couples rotation of the clutch housing and the shaft. The clutch pack includes a primary backing plate, a reaction plate, first and second friction plates disposed between the backing plate and the reaction plate, and a secondary backing plate disposed between the first and second friction plates. A first actuator selectively applies pressure to the reaction plate to move the reaction plate toward the primary backing plate. A second actuator controls movement of the secondary backing plate to switch the clutch pack between a low torque state and a high torque state. In the low torque state, the secondary backing plate cannot move longitudinally toward the primary backing plate beyond a locked position. In the high torque state, the secondary backing plate can move beyond the locked position.

Abstract: A method and a device for fracture splitting a connecting rod and a connecting rod formed therefrom are provided, in which a force exerted on an outer rim of an eye of the connecting rod by a separating tool is generated by an electromagnetic force. The separating tool includes at least two separating members inserted into the eye, and the electromagnetic force is generated by displacing the at least two separating members away from each other inside the eye in response to application of the electromagnetic force. The electromagnetic force may be generated by passing current through coils positioned between the at least two separating members in a manner that causes the coils to repel one another, preferably with a pulse duration of less than 100 microseconds, in order to minimize plastic deformation at the fracture locations.

Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to systems and method for configuration of communication flows in a software defined network (“SDN”). In one embodiment, a system is operable to configure a communication flow between a first host and a second host. A mode selection subsystem is configured to cause a plurality of network devices in a network connecting the first communication host and the second communication host to transition between an open mode and an SDN operating mode. In the open mode, the network devices may discover a communication path between the first host and the second host. An analysis subsystem may receive information from the plurality of network devices information about the discovered path, and a topology discovery subsystem may be configured to create a communication flow corresponding to the discovered path. • Patent number: 9919778
Abstract: Conventional ship launching airbags are made of several layers of rubber and fiber meshes bonded together by vulcanization. With the existing fabrication process, an airbag is strong in standing heavy pressure at its surfaces, but weak against the cutting by sharp edges of metal debris or oyster shells. An airbag's functional failure during a field operation can cause not only stoppage, but also explosion, hence a serious safety hazard. To overcome such structural weakness, a new type of airbags with anti-cutting capability is disclosed in which a conventional ship launching airbag is covered with a layer of anti-cutting armor made of steel cord ply sheets, a standard off-the-shelf product for the making of tires, embedded at the surface of the airbag's main body.

  • Patent number: 9920593
Abstract: A wireline retrievable injection valve for an oil or gas well has an internal valve that is initially moved to open a flapper safety valve and also opens to allow fluid flow through the valve. The internal valve includes a sleeve that opens the flapper safety valve and shields the flapper safety valve from fluid. In this manner the flapper valve is protected from being caused to “flutter” or “chatter” due to pressure variations in the fluid flow, which may damage the seat.
