    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that employ an IR suppression system to alter the signature of a vessel during a missile engagement with the objective of confusing a seeker of an incoming missile so as to increase the probability that the seeker is seduced by a flare. The flare is launched and IR suppression is enabled or set to an increased level, with coordinated timing, such that the IR signature of the target vessel is changed at about the same time that the flare is launched.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for the continuous operation of an air conditioning unit or climate control system in a vehicle. The system may include a power generating unit, such as an engine or a fuel cell stack, and an exhaust loop in fluid communication with the power generating unit. First and second adsorption-based thermal batteries are provided in thermal communication with the exhaust loop. The vehicle may be configured to simultaneously operate in both an air conditioning operational mode powered by the first thermal battery, and a charging operational mode that regenerates the second thermal battery. A thermoelectric generator may also be provided such that the system is entirely self-powered, reducing or eliminating a need for supplemental, i.e. plug-in, charging.

    Abstract: A vehicular passenger compartment trim panel assembly, a vehicular door assembly and a method of removing a vehicular passenger compartment trim panel assembly. The assembly includes a trim panel and a retention assembly where the retention assembly includes a fastener and a fastener cover. The fastener cover is sized and shaped such that when the fastener cover is secured within an aperture that is formed in the trim panel, a gap formed between them that is visible around a periphery of the A-surface defines a substantially constant width. In addition, a through-the-thickness dimension of the fastener cover includes a localized thinning in a portion of the periphery that is adjacent the clip. Such construction permits tool-free engagement of the fastener cover at the localized thinning so that the gap may be widened in response to such engagement so that the clip becomes disengaged to permit access to a screw or related fastener that is situated underneath the fastener cover.
