  • Publication number: 20150338901
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing power to a home entertainment integrated circuit chip are disclosed. The home entertainment integrated circuit chip can operate in at least two power control modes: “power on” mode and “standby” mode. In power on mode, power is supplied to IC core module from a main power supply. The power supplied to the IC core module is isolated from power supplied to a standby island. Accordingly, during the second mode power is applied only to the standby power island through a regulator internal to the integrated circuit chip. The regulator is coupled to an external peripheral input/output (I/O) power supply that is independent of the main power supply.

  • Patent number: 9154791
Abstract: A low complexity method for directly decoding low-resolution video frames from compressed high-resolution video content that were encoded using predictive coding toques, such as the H264 video coding standard, is disclosed. The decoding resolution is inversely proportional to the decoding complexity. Thus, a smaller decoding resolution yields higher computation and power savings. Low-frequency coefficients of 2 Dimensional transformed predictions are added to low-frequency coefficients of a transformed residual error. Low-frequency coefficients of the reconstructed data are then inversely transformed, having a smaller size transform. Further computational and power savings are obtained by reconstructing only those referenced pixels necessary for accurate decoding of proceeding Intra blocks.

  • Publication number: 20150138997
Abstract: Devices and methods for quickly and definitively detecting whether or not a device is RVU capable. Aspects of the disclosed method and apparatus make use of the RVU messaging protocol, which include a Discovery phase and a Description phase. In one embodiment, a stand-alone testing device includes functionality that can test for the existence of RVU capability in a network connected device; in another embodiment, a cable/data network interface device may be modified to include such functionality. One detection method exams messages transmitted by a device during a Discovery phase for unique indicia of RVU compliance by the device. Another detection method reads a data structure from a device during a Description phase and looks for unique indicia of RVU compliance by the device. An installation method provides a process for quickly and definitively detecting an RVU compliant device.

  • Patent number: 9030270
Abstract: A cascaded diplexer to create a cascaded diplexer leg with selectable passbands has a cascaded diplexer circuit. The diplexer circuit has a plurality of first bandpass filters, each having a passband. The diplexer circuit has a second bandpass filter having a passband and two terminals, coupled in series with a first bandpass filter. First and second switches are coupled in series with the second bandpass filter and the first bandpass filter, the first and second switches being configured to selectably switch the second bandpass filter into the circuit. The passband of the second bandpass filter is chosen to limit the passband of the first bandpass filters, such that when the second bandpass filter is switched into the circuit, the passband of the diplexer leg is reduced. The passband of the second bandpass filter may be a subset of, or overlaps with, the passband of the first bandpass filter.
