Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and computer program product for auto-installing an integrated receiver/decoder (IRD) includes issuing an auto-installation command from the IRD to an outdoor unit (ODU) and receiving a plurality of tones from the ODU in response to the auto-installation command, each tone representing a center frequency of available user bands (UBs). The auto-installation also includes acquiring a UB center frequency by the IRD, requesting the ODU to confirm a UB number corresponding to the acquired UB center frequency, and receiving confirmation from the ODU that a UB number corresponds to the acquired UB center frequency. The auto-installation also includes sending an acceptance of the assigned UB number from the IRD to signal the ODU that it may mark the assigned UB as assigned.

  • Publication number: 20140119635
Abstract: An apparatus, a method, and a computer-program product for identifying a location of abnormal emission on integrated circuits are disclosed. The location of abnormal emission on integrated circuits is identified by measuring an emission intensity for each of a plurality of voltages for each pixel in an emission image of an integrated circuit; generating a plot of the measured emission intensities as a function of the plurality of voltages for each area in the emission image of the integrated circuit; determining differences in emission intensities of the generated plot for a selected area compared to a plot for a corresponding area known to have no abnormal emission; and identifying location of abnormal emission corresponding to the selected area the detected difference of which exceeds a pre-determined threshold.

  • Patent number: 8711072
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a system of reducing motion blur in a liquid crystal cell. A basic idea of the invention is to process, in an LCD system, a luminance component (Y) of a picture frame to provide motion blur reduction, wherein overdrive is applied to the luminance component only. First, a luminance component related to a first picture frame is stored. Thereafter, a luminance component of a subsequent picture frame is acquired. To reduce motion blur in the LCD, a modified luminance component (Y?) is created based on a difference between the value of the luminance component of the subsequent frame and the value of the luminance component related to the first frame. Hence, based on the value of the difference in the luminance components, and color components (U, V) of the subsequent picture frame, a drive voltage is applied to the LC cell.

  • Patent number: 8699502
Abstract: A media receiver hub receives wireless signals from multiple sources (e.g., satellite signals from multiple satellites) and provides the signals to end devices over a local network. According to an example embodiment, a satellite hub is responsive to channel input selections received from end devices by selecting channels from within received satellite signals, and by converting each channel into a format amenable for delivery to and use at an end device requesting the channel. The converted channels are communicated to the end devices over a network that also facilitates communications between the devices, by restricting the communications to using a portion of the available bandwidth of the network, reserving bandwidth for communications with and/or between the end devices (or other network devices).

  • Patent number: 8687123
Abstract: A video signal processing apparatus for processing a video signal comprises a receive unit (101, 103, 105) which receives the video signal comprising a sequence of pictures. A processing unit (107) applies a picture noise changing algorithm to the sequence of pictures and a variation unit (113) varies a spatial noise reduction setting for the picture noise changing algorithm between at least some consecutive pictures of the sequence of pictures in response to a predetermined variation rule. Specifically a set of picture manipulation processes (203, 205) with different spatial noise reduction characteristics may be provided and the variation unit (113) may select different picture manipulation processes in consecutive pictures. The approach may introduce high frequency noise flickering which is less perceptible to a viewer thereby reducing the perceived noise.

  • Patent number: 8687695
Abstract: An image includes a plurality of image blocks each including a plurality of pixels and having an associated motion vector. The image is processed by selecting an image block and a corner region (E1x) located in a corner of the selected image block to provide a selected corner region. A plurality of adjacent image blocks located adjacent to the selected corner region are then selected from the plurality of image blocks. The motion vectors assigned to the adjacent image blocks are then compared to determine if the motion vectors form a homogeneous vector field. When the motion vectors of the adjacent image blocks form a homogeneous vector field, a motion vector for the corner region is generated from the motion vectors of the adjacent image blocks. When the motion vectors of the adjacent image blocks do not form a homogeneous vector field, the motion vector for the corner region is set equal to the motion vector of the image block.

  • Patent number: 8681890
Abstract: A method of signal processing, or corresponding apparatus, includes providing multiple analog receive signals at respective antennas and selecting one antenna at a time in an iterative manner, to cycle through the antennas and provide a multiplexed analog signal. The multiplexed analog signal is filtered at a filter to pass a predetermined frequency band. The multiplexed analog signal is sampled at a single analog to digital converter to generate a multiplexed digital signal. The multiplexed digital signal is demultiplexed to generate multiple digital signals for digital processing. Sharing a receiver and ADC among multiple antennas results in reduced cost and power. Such cost and power reductions in turn enable larger antenna arrays than are available with prior art techniques, thereby promoting increased throughput and coverage.

  • Publication number: 20140079168
Abstract: A method and apparatus in which a Tap-Weight Computer (TWC) calculates a Tap-Weight Vector (TWV). The TWV is coupled to a register in each of a plurality of adaptive filter modules. Each such adaptive filter module includes several adaptive filters that each include a tapped delay line. The input to the tapped delay line of each such adaptive filter is one of a plurality of potential interfering signals. The TWV controls the weighting of the outputs from the taps off the delay line. The weighted outputs from each tapped delay line are then subtracted from a received signal which potentially includes interference from the potential interfering signals. The TWC is multiplexed to each of the plurality of adaptive filters so that each adaptive filter is loaded with a TWV calculated by the TWC to reduce the amount of interference contributed by a particular potential interfering signal coupled to an input to that particular adaptive filter.

Abstract: A cascaded diplexer to create a cascaded diplexer leg with selectable passbands has a cascaded diplexer circuit. The diplexer circuit has a plurality of first bandpass filters, each having a passband. The diplexer circuit has a second bandpass filter having a passband and two terminals, coupled in series with a first bandpass filter. First and second switches are coupled in series with the second bandpass filter and the first bandpass filter, the first and second switches being configured to selectably switch the second bandpass filter into the circuit. The passband of the second bandpass filter is chosen to limit the passband of the first bandpass filters, such that when the second bandpass filter is switched into the circuit, the passband of the diplexer leg is reduced. The passband of the second bandpass filter may be a subset of, or overlaps with, the passband of the first bandpass filter.
