  • Patent number: 5630485
Abstract: Telescoping vibration damper consisting of a work cylinder and a jacket tube forming an equalization chamber, whereby there is a base valve in the floor of the work cylinder. The object is to create a simple base valve which can be simply and economically manufactured and which allows an optimum flexibility of design, whereby the correct formation of the control edges can be easily accomplished. To achieve this object, the base valve is realized in the form of at least two disks with corresponding notches, whereby the notches of both disks jointly form the flow connection of the base valve and are connected with corresponding valve disks to form a single component.

  • Patent number: 5622087
Abstract: A dual-mass flywheel comprises a primary mass (7) which is adapted to be fastened to a crankshaft (3) of an internal-combustion engine concentric to an axis of rotation (1) and a secondary mass (9) which is mounted for rotation relative to the primary mass (7) around the axis of rotation (1). The secondary mass (9) is coupled in a rotationally elastic manner to the primary mass (7) by a torsion-damping arrangement (19). The primary mass has two formed sheet-metal parts (35, 37) which define a cavity (47) to accommodate springs (17) of the torsion-damping arrangement (19) and is provided with supplementary masses in order to increase the moment of inertia. The supplementary masses may be made up of extensions (45, 63) of the formed sheet-metal parts (35, 37) or of additionally welded-on mass-rings (67). • Patent number: 5620076
Abstract: A hydraulically actuated clutch release system for a motor vehicle friction clutch, including a piston-cylinder unit oriented concentrically to a transmission input shaft, whereby the cylinder is fastened to the transmission housing, and has the cylinder chamber for the piston between an inner and an outer cylinder shell. The piston itself is guided inside a guide element surrounded by the outer cylinder shell. The outer cylinder shell, next to the guide element, has at least one retaining member which can be brought into contact with the guide element, and through which retaining member the guide element can be secured against participation in the movement of the piston during the engagement and release of the clutch. In this case, when there is a change in the axial position of the piston caused by wear in the friction clutch, the action of the retaining member can be suppressed for a displacement of the guide element.

  • Patent number: 5601165
Abstract: A rotary actuator has a cylinder and a motor shaft as well as end caps which define a working area. A number of ribs extend from the inside wall surface of the cylinder and an equal number of vanes extend from the outside shell surface of the motor shaft. The ribs and vanes divide the working area into working chambers which are alternately supplied with hydraulic medium. Seals are disposed in grooves in the ribs and the vanes, which seals are braced between the inside wall surface of the cylinder or the outside shell surface of the motor shaft and the respective groove base, so that the seals hydraulically separate the working chambers from one another. The outside shell surface of the motor shaft and the inside wall surface of the cylinder are designed with recesses, so that the prestress on the seals is neutralized in at least one installation position of the motor shaft. The rotary actuator can be used in a stabilizer bar of a motor vehicle suspension system.

  • Patent number: 5601492
Abstract: A two-mass flywheel has a first flywheel mass which can be connected to the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine, and can be provided with a thrust bearing for a hub of a second flywheel. The first flywheel can also be designed in its circumferential area with a radial bearing for the hub. The second flywheel can preferably rotate in synchronization with the first flywheel and can also preferably execute a limited rotation relative to the first flywheel. On this flywheel device, the thrust bearing is oriented so that on one hand, a sufficient supply of lubricant to the thrust bearing is always provided, and on the other hand, so that there is an optimal axial guidance of the hub. The invention teaches that this object can be achieved by a thrust bearing with displacement limit stops for the hub provided on both sides of the hub and extending to the radial bearing.

  • Patent number: 5595269
Abstract: A damping valve, in particular for a vibration damper for a motor vehicle, has a damping valve body with at least one admission channel for each direction of flow through the valve body. The admissions channel connectes a top side and a bottom side of the damping valve body to one another. There can also be a valve plate on a valve seat surface, whereby the valve plate can lift up from the valve seat surface, and the admission channels from the top side and bottom side of the damping valve can have an initial choke inside the connection path. The cross section of the initial choke is defined by the width of an influx opening of the admission channel and the average radial distance between an edge, which determines the valve plate contour, and the inflow opening.

  • Patent number: 5588925
Abstract: This invention relates to a shifter for the actuation of derailleurs on bicycles with an integrated transition distance for shifting the chain from a smaller sprocket to the next larger sprocket by means of a detent element. The detent element interacts with a detent spring which detent spring is permanently fastened to the housing. The return of the shifting system into the correct position of the derailleur over the desired larger sprocket is no longer left exclusively to the return spring of the derailleur by means of a Bowden cable, but is assisted by a transition spring which is coupled to the detent spring in the shifter.
