Patent number: 9490651Abstract: A power transmission pad is configured to provide wireless power transmission to a receiving device where the receiving device is orientation-free relative to the pad. The pad functions as a transmitter and is magnetically “hot”, meaning the pad generates a magnetic field when powered on. The receiving device, such as a cell phone, tablet, or other portable electronic device, is placed within the magnetic field for the purpose of charging the device battery. In contrast to conventional wireless battery charging systems, there are no restrictions on the orientation of the receiving device relative to the pad. The power transmission pad includes a sweep frequency generator for generating power transmissions across a frequency spectrum. An optimal frequency is determined for maximum energy transfer to the receiving device, and the sweep frequency generator is locked to the determined optimal frequency.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2013Date of Patent: November 8, 2016Assignee: Flextronics AP, LLCInventor: Mark Telefus

Patent number: 9433084Abstract: Methods of backdrilling printed circuit boards (PCBs) to remove via stubs and related apparatuses. The method may include removing a via stub through a combination of backdrilling and chemical etching. The backdrilling may remove a masking layer from the via stub. Portions of an underlying layer may remain in the region of the via stub after the backdrilling is completed. The remaining portions of the underlying layer may be removed in a subsequent etching process thereby removing the via stub from the PCB. As the backdrilling step may be used for the limited purpose of removing the outer layer and portions of the underlying layer remaining in the via can be tolerated, the diameter of the backdrilling need not be as large as traditional backdrilling where all layers within the via must be ensured of being completely removed.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2012Date of Patent: August 30, 2016Assignee: Flextronics AP, LLCInventor: Cheuk Ping Lau

Patent number: 9378864Abstract: A stretchable metal wire assembly includes a metal wire positioned within an elastic tube. The form of the metal wire is such that when the elastic tube is in a relaxed, or non-stretched, state the metal wire forms a tortuous path, such as a waveform, along the elastic tube. The tortuous path of the metal wire provides slack such that as the elastic tube is stretched the slack is taken up. Once released, the elastic tube moves from the stretched position to the relaxed, non-stretched position, and slack is reintroduced into the metal wire in the form of the original tortuous path. The metal wire functions as an electrical conductor, thereby providing a device having an extendable length electrical conducting element. In some applications, the metal wire is electrically coupled at each end to an electrical interconnect component.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2014Date of Patent: June 28, 2016Assignee: Flextronics AP, LLCInventors: Weifeng Liu, Anwar Mohammed, Murad Kurwa
