Abstract: A system includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to identify an object, including points on the object, to perform tracking of the object based on a motion model including a relationship of the points to one another, and to then output a location of one of the points in a blind spot based on the tracking.
Abstract: A frame assembly includes a rail including a straight portion, the straight portion including a first portion, a second portion, and a deformation trigger between the first and second portions, and a bracket attached to the first portion and the second portion.

Abstract: A point is detected from first and second sensor data. An uncertainty range is estimated for a location of the point relative to the vehicle based on a motion model. Upon determining the point exited a first sensor field of view, the uncertainty range is estimated based on data received from the second sensor and dead reckoning, and the location of the point is estimated within the uncertainty range.
Abstract: An exemplary vehicle assembly, includes, among other things, an inflatable device that transitions between a less expanded position and a more expanded position. The inflatable device in the more inflated position is disposed within a door opening of a vehicle. A side door of the vehicle is detached from the vehicle to provide the door opening. An exemplary occupant protection method includes, among other things, after a side door of a vehicle is detached from the vehicle to provide a door opening, transitioning an inflatable device from a less expanded position to a more expanded position. The inflatable device in the more inflated position is disposed within the door opening.
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for a self-aligning exhaust sensor joint. In one example, a system may include a tapered pipe having a flange at its wider end; a nut having a head, an externally threaded bottom, and a tapered inner cavity that is adapted to fit around the tapered pipe; and a boss having a threaded inner cavity that is adapted to engage with the threaded bottom of the nut and having an engagement cavity for receiving the flange. By inserting the flange into the engagement cavity, mating the externally threaded bottom of the nut with the threaded inner cavity of the boss, and torquing the nut until a bottom surface of the externally threaded bottom pushes against the flange, a seal may be formed between the tapered pipe and the boss.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a vehicle may include a turn signal status component, communication component, and a maneuver component. The turn signal status component detects an active turn signal indicator on a target vehicle. The communication component receives a wireless communication indicating an intended turning maneuver of the target vehicle. The maneuver component determines a maneuver for the parent vehicle or a timing for the maneuver based at least in-part on the intended turning maneuver.
Abstract: A vehicle includes an anti-lock braking system (ABS), a stability control system (SCS), and an electronic locking differential. A controller of the vehicle is programmed to unlock the differential in response to activation of the ABS or the SCS. The controller is further programmed to, responsive to the deactivation of the activated one of the ABS and the SCS, inhibit locking of the differential for a predefined period of time.

Abstract: An apparatus for loading and deploying cargo from a motor vehicle includes a liftgate, a liftgate drive module to displace the liftgate between a closed position and an opened position, a cargo receiver carried on the liftgate and an actuator to raise and lower cargo with respect to the cargo receiver. Related methods of deploying cargo and loading cargo are also provided.
Abstract: Methods and system for operating a heat pump in different operating modes and providing a predictable heat pump response when the heat pump is transitioned between the different operating modes are presented. In one example, a controller that includes executable instructions for providing a bumpless compressor command for operating the heat pump is disclosed.

Abstract: A system includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to receive sensor data including floating-point numbers. The memory stores instructions to convert the floating-point numbers to integer numbers based on a parameter set. The memory stores instructions to actuate a vehicle component based on the integer numbers.
Abstract: A rotor assembly has a rotor including a plurality of laminations each defining a plurality of poles arranged such that values of a pair of angles corresponding to each of the poles and defined between a magnetic axis of the pole and respective interpolar axes adjacent thereto are different. The values of the pairs define a repeating sequence around the lamination. The angles opposite an axis of rotation of the rotor are equal.

Abstract: Systems and methods for restarting an engine are presented. In one example, spark timing during engine starting is adjusted in response to engine speed and a second control parameter. The second control parameter may be correlated with crankshaft or rod degradation. Spark may be advanced from minimum spark for best torque when engine speed is greater than desired and when the second control parameter does not provide an indication of engine degradation.
