Abstract: Devices and methods for removing tissue, which causes minimal pain or scarring. A hemostatic clamp having two arms with juxtaposeablefaces, can compress tissue between the faces of the arms so as to fuse a portion of the tissue therebetween. A locking mechanism maintains pressure on the arms until the skin is fused to create a skin tab. The unwanted tissue, such as a polydactyl digit, skin tag, or the like, can be excised with the clamp in position. When the locking mechanism is disengaged and the clamp is removed, the fused skin tab inhibits bleeding and the removal of the digit encourages any remaining underlying nerves to withdraw from the area of amputation. A related device can be used as a castration clamp to externally compress testicular-related tissues, such as ductiles, nerves, and blood vessels leading to the testicles, to castrate an animal. The castration clamp provides a quick, bloodless technique that eliminates the need for open wounds, which are subject to infection.

Abstract: A method for reconstructing an image of a subject with a medical imaging system, such as a magnetic resonance imaging system, is provided. Medical image data is acquired from the subject with the medical imaging system, and one or more images of the subject are reconstructed from the medical image data while constraining the one or more images to be consistent with a signal model that relates image intensity values in the image to a free parameter that is associated with a physical property of the subject. The signal model may be an analytical signal model or an approximate signal model learned from acquired medical image data. The model consistency condition may be enforced using an operator that projects an image estimate onto the space of all functions satisfying the signal model.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a DNA aptamer specifically binding to EN2 (Engrailed-2), a biosensor for diagnosing prostate cancer having the same, and a method of diagnosing prostate cancer. A strong binding force and excellent specificity of the DNA aptamer of the present invention and the biosensor using the same with respect to EN2 proteins were identified. A detection specificity problem of a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test used for prostate cancer diagnosis of the related art was addressed. Therefore, the present invention is expected to be beneficially used for early diagnosis of prostate cancer more effectively and increase diagnostic accuracy.
