Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for transmitting feedback information by each of user terminals in a communication system including the user terminals with different numbers of antennas. A multicast data packet is received from a base station through a downlink multicast transmission channel. If the multicast data packet has never been successfully decoded before, the multicast data packet is decoded and the success/failure in decoding the multicast data packet is determined. Upon the failure in decoding the multicast data packet, a NACK signal indicating the failure in decoding the multicast data packet is generated with sequences, the number of which is equal to the number of antennas of the user terminal. The NACK signal is transmitted to the base station through a shared feedback channel. If the user terminal has at least two antennas, sequences corresponding to the at least two antennas are orthogonal to each other and constitute sequence signals.

Abstract: A passive sampling apparatus and method for measuring the cumulative mass of a selected gas being transported through a known cross-sectional area, for example, a soil surface, during a chosen period of time, using absorbent material, are described. Two quantities of absorbent material are disposed in a hollow container, such as a pipe section, and spaced apart such that they may be readily separated for analysis. The absorbent material closest to the soil captures the gas leaving the soil. Under reversed flow conditions, for example when the ambient air enters the ground because of fluctuations in atmospheric pressure, the upper absorbent material captures the component of interest entering the apparatus, thereby preventing this gas from entering the lower material and disturbing the measurement. The apparatus can therefore sequester the component of interest without being affected by the direction of gas transport.

Abstract: Porous HCG scaffolds are provided in a perfusion bioreactor. Cells are seeded in the HCG scaffolds and cell culture media is perfused through the bioreactor to allow for cell seeding and growth. The cell culture media is removed, the HCG-cell constructs washed, and then preserved in the bioreactor with a perfusion comprising cryopreservation fluid comprising one or more of DMSO, trehalose, glycerol, ethylene glycol, or serum. The HCG-cell constructs (or the perfusion chambers containing them) are then removed from the bioreactor and placed in a cryopreservant media and maintained at about ?80° C. The frozen HCG-cell constructs (or the chambers containing them) can then be stored at a suitable cryogenic temperature until needed. When needed, frozen HCG-cell constructs can be removed from cold storage and thawed using suitable means.
