Abstract: A spinal fixation system includes an expandable disc replacement body and an adjustment mechanism. The expandable disc replacement body includes a first wall, a second wall, a hinge connecting the first wall and the second wall, and a first bone-screw receiving section at a proximal end of the first wall. The adjustment mechanism is positioned between the first wall and the second wall, and an angle between the first wall and the second wall can be varied by movement of the adjustment mechanism.

Abstract: Method for determining developmental fate of early embryos comprises measuring the expression level of a gene selected from the group consisting of CDKN1C, IGF2R, MAGEL2, MKRN3, NAP1L5, NDN, PEG3, PHLDA2, TSSC4, and UBE3A genes. Abstract: Compositions and method are therefore disclosed for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and/or pulmonary fibrosis (PF). Abstract: Provided are lithium ion batteries including a nano-crystalline graphene electrode. The lithium ion battery includes a cathode on a cathode current collector, an electrolyte layer on the cathode, an anode on the electrolyte layer, and an anode current collector on the anode. The anode and the cathode include a plurality of grains having a size in a range from about 5 nm to about 100 nm. The cathode has a double bonded structure in which a carbon of the graphene is combined with oxygen.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to novel lymphoid-specific tyrosine phosphatase (LYP, encoded by the PTPN22 gene) inhibitors, and to methods of making and using the novel LYP inhibitors.
