Abstract: A method and system for evaluating software tools that detect malicious hardware modifications is provided. In one embodiment, among others, a system comprises a computing device and an application. The application causes the computing device to at least receive hardware description language code that represents a circuit design and calculate a signal probability for one or more nodes in the circuit design. The application also causes the computing device to identify one or more rare nodes in the circuit design and generate a Trojan sample population. The application further causes the computing device to generate a feasible Trojan population and generate a Trojan test instance based at least in part on a random selection from the Trojan feasible population. Additionally, the application causes the computing device to generate modified hardware description code from the Trojan test instance.

Abstract: A semiconductor device fabrication method includes forming first and second spaced apart base regions and source regions in a substrate with a portion of a drift region therebetween. The method further includes forming at least a first trench extending laterally through the base region, the drift region and the source region, the first trench extending vertically partially through the source region. The method also includes forming a first oxide layer over the trenched upper surface, and forming a polysilicon layer over the first oxide layer. The polysilicon layer is patterned to form the gate conductor, and a drain contact is formed on a bottom surface of the semiconductor substrate.
Abstract: A bending apparatus for a sample is disclosed. The bending apparatus includes a translation mechanism that translates a vertical displacement/force into a horizontal displacement/force for bending. Components of the bending apparatus are fabricated from a strong, radiolucent material. In these ways, the bending apparatus is compatible with micro-CT imaging, and as such, may be used to bend a sample during imaging. In a particular application, the bending apparatus may be used to measure biomechanical properties of a bone, such as bone strength, bone material properties, fracture toughness, and fracture propagation.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing a mutant strain having high producibility of phytoene and a mutant strain prepared thereby. More particularly, a Deinococcus radiodurans mutant strain, prepared by the method of the present invention, having high producibility of phytoene, does not retain an artificial antibiotic-resistant gene, although constructed by introducing a metabolism engineering method, and has high producibility of phytoene. Thus, the mutant strain prepared according to the method can find useful applications in the mass production of phytoene.
