Abstract: A new class of multi-component rare earth multi-silicate materials has been created for use in harsh environments such as gas turbine engines. Moreover, by combining two-or-more rare earth disilicates the properties (for example, thermal expansion, thermal conductivity, etc.) can be tailored to fit specific applications, such as having a matching thermal expansion with that of silicon-based composites and a low thermal conductivity close to that of 1 W/m K. Applications can be extended for use with other material classes such as MCrAlY, MAX-phase, and refractory metal alloys, utilizing a thermal expansion of up to about 15?10?6 /° C. By mixing of specific sets of rare earth disilicates it is possible to obtain a high entropy or entropy stabilized mixture, and utilize features such as “sluggish diffusion”, and more.

Abstract: Blood vessel occlusion devices, systems and methods, in particular embodiments of devices for aortic occlusion. The device includes one or more locator portions and an occluder portion. The device is delivered via transcatheter delivery. The locator portion may be radially expanded using a handle and actuator at the proximal end of the delivery catheter. Tactile feedback from the locator portion is used to determine proper location of the occluder portion, for example within the abdominal aorta. The occluder is then radially expanded to occlude the vessel.

Abstract: A method and system for generating inverted electrical signals includes a first string of batteries connected in series, each battery having a half-bridge circuit connected in parallel and each having upper switch and lower switches. A first H-bridge circuit is connected in parallel with the first string of batteries, and a triangle wave generator generates a plurality of triangle wave signals at a given amplitude and carrier frequency. The plurality of triangle wave signals have individual triangle wave signals phase-shifted from one another. A modulation wave generator generates a modulation signal at a modulation amplitude and at twice a fundamental frequency that is less than the carrier frequency. A controller compares an instantaneous magnitude of the individual triangle wave signals to an instantaneous magnitude of the modulation signal, and outputs commands to the upper switch of a respective half-bridge circuit based on the comparison.

Abstract: The presently disclosed method and system exploits a received signal strength of a jamming signal emitted by a jammer to allow navigation of an object through an area containing the jamming signal. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving a plurality of navigation data and a jamming signal when entering a jamming zone. The method then comprises repeatedly measuring the strength of the jamming signal while moving within the jamming zone. The method then comprises determining the location of the jammer based on the movement within the jamming zone and the strength of the jamming signal at multiple coordinates. The method further comprises performing movement to destination coordinates within the jamming zone at least partially based on the jammer location and the strength of the jamming signal.
