Abstract: A method for identifying network cameras is disclosed. The method includes receiving name of an organization, identifying a range of internet protocol (IP) address associated with the organization, querying each IP address in the range of the IP addresses, receiving a response from the IP addresses in response to the queries, verifying the received response is from a camera by obtaining an image file from the IP address and analyzing the image file, and adding IP address to a list of identified cameras.
Abstract: Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for image encoding/decoding. The method for image decoding includes comparing whether a size of a current transform block and a size of a smallest transform block (smallest transform unit (STU)) are the same as each other, and decoding information indicating whether transformation is performed on the current transform block and determining whether to perform inverse transformation on the current transform block based on the decoded information indicating whether the transformation is performed when the size of the current transform block and the size of a smallest transform block are the same as each other.

Abstract: Methods and systems for producing prescribed unit size azido-poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) (azido-PHA) polymers and copolymers are provided. The methods and systems can employ recombinant bacteria that are not native producers of PHA or lack enzymes to degrade PHA once synthesized, metabolize short to long chain fatty acids without induction, and express an (R)-specific enoyl-CoA hydratase and a PHA synthase, the (R)-specific enoyl-CoA hydratase and PHA synthase having wide substrate specificities. The recombinant bacteria are fed at least one ?-azidofatty acid substrate that is equal in carbon length to the prescribed or desired unit size of an azido-PHA polymer to be produced. Azido-PHA polymers or azido-PHA co-polymers can be conjugated via copper-catalyzed alkyne-azide cycloaddition (CuAAC) or strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) reactions. The prescribed unit size conjugated azido-PHA polymer or orthogonally conjugated azido-PHA co-polymer that is produced is then isolated and/or purified.

Abstract: In the static and exclusive spectrum allocation paradigm, the spectrum-access parameters for a service are chosen to mitigate potential harmful-interference and ensure minimum performance under worst-case conditions. The new dynamic spectrum-sharing paradigm necessitates dynamically defining and enforcing the spectrum-access rights while accommodating the dynamics of the RF environment and the spectrum-access scenarios. To enforce spectrum-access rights, emphasis is placed on capturing the use of spectrum by an individual transceiver. Spectrum-access rights are articulated in terms of the characterization of the spectrum used by an individual transceiver in the space, time, and frequency dimensions. In order to estimate the use of spectrum in real time, an RF-sensor network is employed, the network uses interference-tolerant algorithms to estimate the transceiver spectrum-access parameters and to characterize the propagation environment.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the 14-3-3 protein which is a non-alcoholic fatty liver regulating factor. According to the present invention, two isoform proteins of 14-3-3, i.e., 14-3-3? and 14-3-3?, are different regulating factors for regulating the transcriptional activity of PPAR?2. 14-3-3? increases the transcriptional activity of PPAR?2 by binding to PPAR?2, on the other hand, 14-3-3? plays a role in decreasing the transcriptional activity of PPAR?2. Thus, 14-3-3? and 14-3-3?, which are PPAR?2 regulating factors, are proteins that play a vital role in lipid metabolism, and may be used as a target for the prevention or treatment of fatty liver.

Abstract: A detection arrangement and method for directing the sensitivity of an optical knife-edge detection system to its optimal operating point. This is referred to as an increase in the detection dynamic range of the system with advantageous applications for detecting motion of a surface such as for Atomic Force Microscopy as well as detecting acoustic vibrations on unstable surfaces. A pair of parallel reflecting surfaces, such as an optical slab waveguide, serve to reflect the sensing beam back onto the knife-edge detector once it is shifted off its sensing range. Allowing multiple reflections, the sensing beam is maintained on the knife-edge detector even at large angular offsets from the optimal operating point of the basic knife-edge detector. Use of a modified arrangement, with two knife-edge detectors at quadrature ensures near-optimal sensitivity at a detection dynamic range up to forty-fold larger than that of the basic knife-edge system.
