Abstract: At one end of a printed wiring board, there is formed a narrow-pitched electrode pattern and engagement patterns made of the same material as that of the electrode pattern. At one end of an FPC which is to be connected with the printed circuit board, there is formed a narrow-pitched electrode pattern and engagement patterns made of the same material as that of the electrode pattern. The engagement patterns in the printed wiring board being engageable with the engagement patterns in the FPC. When the two engagement patterns are engaged with each other, the electrode pattern of the printed wiring board is electrically connected with the electrode pattern of the FPC.
Abstract: Disclosed is an interposer for electrically coupling two electrical components having different coefficients of thermal expansion (CTEs). The interposer has two substrates which have different CTE values, with each substrate having a first surface and a second surface. The interposer has electrical connectors located on the first surfaces of the two substrates, the connectors for making electrical connections to the two corresponding electrical components. A flexible-circuit layer is disposed between the two substrates and interconnects the connectors on the first substrate to the connectors on the second substrate. The two substrates are folded such that their second surfaces confront one another, where they may be attached to one another. General methods of making interposers for electrically coupling two electrical components are disclosed.

Abstract: A disk apparatus has a rotatable actuator adapted to magnetically latch in a predetermined stop position when the disk apparatus is not operating. The actuator rotates about a rotating or swinging shaft and includes a coil arm having a latch magnet. The coil arm is adapted to pass between opposing permanent magnets when the actuator rotates about the rotating or swinging shaft. When the actuator is in the stop position, the latch magnet is outside of the area between the permanent magnets, therefore generating a repulsive force between the latch magnet and permanent magnets, inducing the actuator to magnetically latch. When the disk apparatus is operating, the latch magnet travels between the permanent magnets, resulting in opposing repulsive magnetic forces having equal magnitudes which cancel each other, maintaining the actuator's attitude without rotating it.
Abstract: An equipment enclosure includes a set of features enabling alignment of an electronic component with an L-shaped wall bracket. The bottom of the component rests on a base of the bracket. A rear wall of the bracket includes fastener elements, such as threaded standoffs, and alignment posts that extend forward beyond the standoffs. The rear of the component likewise includes fastener elements, such as captive screws, and alignment openings. During installation, the component is brought into a position in which the alignment openings engage the alignment posts, and then the component is pushed rearward until it abuts the rear wall of the bracket. The fasteners become mutually aligned for subsequent fastening.

Abstract: A semiconductor element testing carrier prevents a semiconductor element from being displaced relative to a membrane contactor during a testing operation and an attaching operation of the semiconductor element to a semiconductor element testing carrier. The semiconductor element testing carrier holds a semiconductor element to be tested so as to obtain an electrical contact with electrodes of the semiconductor element, the semiconductor element having a first surface on which the electrodes are formed and a second surface opposite to the first surface. A membrane contactor has a front surface and a back surface opposite to the front surface. The membrane contactor contacts the electrodes of the semiconductor element being placed on the front surface of the membrane contactor. A pressing unit presses the membrane contactor toward the semiconductor element from a side of the back surface of membrane contactor. A pressing and holding member holds the second surface of the semiconductor element.

Abstract: A comparison between a cost required when retrieval is performed after an index corresponding to a retrieval condition is generated and a cost required when entire retrieval is performed is made. If the cost required when the entire retrieval is performed is higher, it is determined whether or not an applicable index exists among already generated indexes. If an applicable index does not exist, an index corresponding to the retrieval condition is generated. A database is then retrieved by using the generated index.

The advertising server 1 correlates advertising information it has received with the designated advertisement URL and stores this in an advertising DB 11.
Abstract: Memory cell currents flowing through memory cells in reading data are compared with reference currents that are set in accordance with the wiring widths of word lines connected to these memory cells. The logic levels of data retained in the memory cells are detected depending on whether larger or smaller the memory cell currents are than the reference currents. Setting a plurality of reference currents for every wiring width of word lines allows the reference currents to be set at optimum values for each memory cell having different gate widths. Since the reference currents are set according to the characteristic of memory cells, read margins improve for enhanced reliability in read operations.
