  • Patent number: 6141181
Abstract: A magnetic disk apparatus comprising magnetic disks and a magnetic head assembly including a rotatable head carriage with a hub and head arms extending from the hub in a line. A floating slider is carried by each of the head arms and the sliders have magnetic heads for access to the surfaces of the magnetic disks. Parallel rails are arranged on the surface of the floating slider facing the associated surface of the magnetic disk. The floating slider has a longitudinal central axis extending generally parallel to the longitudinal central axis of the associated head arm and the rails extend obliquely to the longitudinal central axis of the body. The floating slider is arranged so that, when the floating slider is positioned on the innermost track, the angle the rails form with the tangent to the innermost track is substantially zero, so as to reduce the variation in the flying height of the floating slider from the magnetic disk, without reducing the recording capacity.

  • Patent number: 6140922
Abstract: Columns of sales item stock shelves in a drive-through type store are referred to as groups. Indicators are disposed on the columns of the shelves. Each of the indicators is composed of, for example, red and blue lamps. The red or blue lamp lights corresponding to a POS unit from which a store clerk has input a sales item code. The red or blue lamp represents the location of a sales item group that includes an ordered sales item of a customer. The store clerk collects the ordered sales item from the sales item group indicated with the color designated to the POS unit that the store clerk uses. The indicators are controlled by the POS unit. The POS unit searches for a sales item group that includes the ordered sales item corresponding to the input sales item code and causes the indicators to indicate the sales item group.

  • Patent number: 6141320
Abstract: Nested APS is implemented in a simple configuration for synchronous transmission systems such as SONET and SDH. Bits 5 to 8 of the received K1 byte are compared with line numbers of lines terminated at the receiving node, and when they do not match, the received K1 byte is sent via a first selection circuit for further transmission. At the same time, the K2 byte incoming from the opposing direction is redirected via second selection circuit for transmission.

  • Patent number: 6140760
Abstract: A cathode device comprising a plurality of emitter tips having conical tip end portions to emit electrons therefrom. A gate electrode layer has an opening through which the tip end portion of each of the emitter tips is exposed. The diameter of the opening in the gate electrode layer is made smaller than that of the portion of the emitter tip at the juncture thereof with the substrate. In the fabrication of the cathode device, an oxide layer is formed at least on the surface of the formed emitter tip to sharpen the latter. By removing the oxide layer, an inner circumferential wall of the opening of the gate electrode layer is formed on the outside of the conical tip end portion of the emitter tip and extends approximately in parallel to the conical tip end portion of the emitter tip.
