    Abstract: Methods for wireless communications over a wideband carrier are provided. Time-frequency resources of the wideband carrier within a transmission time interval are divided into multiple time-frequency resource blocks. Each of the time-frequency resource blocks corresponds to a group of contiguous subcarriers of the wideband carrier and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing symbols. Data streams may be scheduled to be transmitted in different time-frequency resource blocks, and may be destined for different user equipments or the same user equipment. Baseband processing operations may be performed on data streams scheduled in different time-frequency resource blocks independently from one another. Separate control channels or one common control channel may be configured for data transmissions in different time-frequency resource blocks.

    Abstract: In an example embodiment, an application is executed on a mobile device, causing generation of application graphical output in an application layer. The application layer is rendered on a touchscreen display. A first gesture of a user is detected, and in response to the first gesture a viewfinder layer is generated, the viewfinder layer containing real-time image data from the embedded camera via a camera service. A composite of the application layer, the viewfinder layer, and a transparency mask is rendered so that a portion of the viewfinder layer is visible and a portion of the application layer is visible on the touchscreen display at the same time. Then a second gesture by the user is detected, and in response to the second gesture, viewfinder data from the viewfinder layer is captured and the viewfinder layer and transparency mask are removed.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to technology for estimating selectivity of non-join multi-column (NJMC) predicates of multi-column table (MCT) database queries is disclosed. The selectivity may be geometrically estimated by representing the full space of the MCT as one polyhedron having at least one dimension for each column of the MCT, and representing the NJMC predicate space as another polyhedron having at least one dimension for each column of a predicate space determined by applying the NJMC predicate to the MCT. Then the selectivity of the NJMC predicate may be estimated by computing a percentage of the size of the NJMC predicate space polyhedron to the size of the full space polyhedron. This more accurate estimate helps database query optimizers produce better query execution plans that utilize system resources more efficiently.

    Abstract: A segment-based approach for fast fourier transforms of input signals is provided for the generation of baseband signals. A FFT is performed individually for each of the segments from the input signal and the FFT result from each segment is accumulated to provide a final FFT for an input signal symbol. After the samples are received for one segment, a FFT can be performed to generate an intermediate FFT result while samples for the additional segment(s) are received. The system accumulates the intermediate result from the segments into a final FFT result that can be used to generate the baseband signal. Segment-based processing of an input signal can provide faster and more efficient processing to generate a baseband signal. Segment-based processing can also decrease the required size of the input buffers for antennas.

When the station receives the reference indicator and the adjustment indicator, the stations determines a transmission power level in accordance with the target receive power reference and the adjustment to the target receive power reference. The stations transmits a packet at the transmission power level to the AP. Reduction in signaling overhead is achieved.

    Abstract: A direct current (DC) bus voltage from a combined output of a plurality of DC power modules is controlled based on an alternating current (AC) voltage of a power grid. The DC bus voltage tracks the AC grid voltage to provide efficient conversion between the DC power sources and the AC grid, even when the amplitude of the AC grid voltage varies. In one example, a variable reference voltage is generated based on a detected AC grid voltage. The reference voltage increases and decreases in proportion to increases and decreases in the AC grid voltage. In this manner, large differences between the bus voltage and the grid voltage are avoided. By closely tracking the two voltages, efficiency in the modulation index for power conversion can be achieved.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to technology for sending network management information in a network. A source edge node modifies data packets by encapsulating an operations, administration and maintenance (OAM) header in a select number of the data packets. The OAM header includes a data type bitmap and a node data list. A valid node bitmap is inserted into the OAM header prior to the node data list, and each bit in the valid node bitmap identifies whether one or more nodes in the network add data to the OAM header. A valid data bitmap is then added into the OAM header for each of the one or more nodes identified as adding data to the OAM header. The valid data bitmap indicates types of data items available at the node. Subsequently, the edge node issues the select data packets to the one or more nodes identified in the OAM header.
