Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for allocating spectrum of a flexible-grid optical network to a plurality of virtual links. Given a set of optical channels of different line rates and channel widths, a user can reserve one of the optical channels as a long-term reservation. The user can later elect to downgrade its optical channel to a smaller optical channel with lower line rate and less spectrum, for example, when the user's traffic demands decrease. The user may return (e.g., sell or de-allocate) an amount of unused spectrum to the carrier, and the carrier creates and manages a resource pool to gather unused spectrum from users. When the user's traffic increases, the user may obtain (e.g., purchase) additional spectrum from the carrier's resource pool and/or upgrade the user's optical channel to an optical channel having a higher line rate.

Abstract: Function resources/memory resources and an associated resource controller configured to assign a first portion of the function resources/memory resources to at least one processing element in response to an access request from the processing element. The resource controller changes a power mode of the first portion of the function resources/memory resources as a function of the first portion assignment, and leaves an unassigned portion of the function resources/memory resources in a power down mode in a self-governing nature. The resource controller enables the processing element to access the first portion of the function resources/memory resources in response to the access request received from the processing element. The function resources/memory resources, resource controllers and one or more processing elements may comprise a system on a chip (SoC).
Abstract: Files and/or file updates can be pre-fetched from a server to reduce file access periods as well as shift network usage from high traffic periods to low traffic periods. For example, a file that was previously expelled from a cache can be pre-fetched from the server prior to a future period in which a client is likely to re-access the file. As another example, a file update for a file that remains stored in the cache can be pre-fetched from the server prior to a future period in which a client is likely to re-access the file. The file update may then be used to update the stored file. The file and/or updated-file can then be provided directly from the cache to the client when the client re-accesses the file.

A method for communications controller operations includes combining control data for each relay node of at least one relay node into a control channel data stream, mapping a plurality of transmission resources for the control channel data stream into a plurality of physical resource blocks using a distributed virtual resource mapping rule, and transmitting the plurality of physical resource blocks to the set of at least one relay node. The plurality of transmission resources are mapped to physical resource blocks that are non-contiguous in a frequency domain.

Abstract: System and method for supporting multiple vSwitches on a single host server. In one aspect, embodiments according to the present disclosure include a system and method for supporting multiple vSwitches on a single host server. In one aspect, a set of packet processor threads are instantiated to process data packets on behalf of all vSwitches deployed on the host server. As yet another example, an updated set of load-balancing policies can be selected from a pool of policies based on OAMP data. Dynamically updating load balancing policies can be achieved using information model processing frameworks, such as the next generation directory enabled networks (DEN-ng) model.
Abstract: A transmit power control rule for device-to-device (D2D) transmissions may not be necessary during periods in which no uplink transmissions are scheduled to be received by an enhanced Node B base station (eNB). When uplink transmissions are not scheduled to be received by the eNB, the eNB may send a transmit power control (TPC) command to a D2D capable user equipment (D2D UE) that instructs the D2D UE to perform a D2D transmission at a pre-defined transmit power level (e.g., maximum transmit power level). When uplink transmissions are scheduled to be received the eNB, the eNB may send a TPC command to the D2D UE that instructs the D2D UE to perform a D2D transmission at a transmit power level defined by a power control rule.
