    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for analyzing health of vehicle batteries and vehicle electrical systems. Vehicle batteries, as well as other components of a vehicle electrical system, tend to degrade over time, and eventually fail. The described systems and methods generate an electrical system metric based on electrical data from a plurality of vehicles. Electrical system performance of individual vehicles is compared to the generated electrical system metric, to determine electrical system performance of vehicles relative to other similar vehicles.

    Abstract: A method for handling input/output (I/O) expansion power faults in a telematics device is provided. The method includes setting an I/O expander power-off duration to an initial value and powering on an I/O expander interface. In response to detecting a power fault at the I/O expander interface, the I/O expander interface is powered-off dur the power-off duration and the power-off duration is increased. If the power-off duration is greater than the power-off duration limit, the I/O expander interface is permanently powered-off. The steps are repeated until either the power fault does not recur, or the I/O expander interface is permanently powered-off.

The method further includes sending the at least one value over a network interface to a telematics server. The telematics device which carries out the method has a controller, memory, and network interface. An accident impact profile may be recorded during the micro wakeups and sent during a wakeup duration for analysis by the telematics server.

Charge data for previous charge events of the vehicle battery can be used in the calculation, and can be filtered by identifying qualified charge events based on at least one of a number of metrics. Usage data for previous usage events of the vehicle battery can be used in the calculation, and can be filtered by identifying qualified usage events or subgroups of usage event based on at least one of a number of metrics.
