Abstract: Disclosed is a garbage bag storage device that facilitates tearing open a garbage bag, which includes a storage device body; a storage cavity is arranged in the storage device body for storing a garbage bag, and a side opening is arranged on a side portion of the storage device body for extracting the garbage bag; and a first pressing portion is further arranged on the side portion of the storage device body, and when the first pressing portion is pressed, it is capable of moving toward the side portion of the storage device body to compress the garbage bag. After pulling out the full length of the garbage bag, use one hand to press the first pressing portion toward the side portion of the storage device body, thereby compressing the garbage bag. At this point, the other hand can grasp the garbage bag and easily and quickly tear it open.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for measuring the deformation in a floating-roof seal assembly. A fiber optic cable is attached along its length to the floating-roof seal assembly such that the fiber optic cable is deformed when the floating-roof seal assembly is deformed. Deformation of the fiber optic cable and the seal assembly can be determined based on how the light interacts with the fiber optic cable. This helps allow tanks with a floating roof to be monitored.
Abstract: Sealing members for use with implantable devices and associated methods are disclosed. The sealing members include monofilament strands braided with multifilament strands into a cylindrical braided material. The monofilament strands and the multifilament strands can each comprise polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The monofilament strands can provide structural integrity and resiliency to the cylindrical braided material. The monofilament strands can provide bulk, coverage, and softness to the cylindrical braided material. A method for creating the cylindrical braided material can include a first heat setting step on a straight mandrel at a lower temperature and a second heat setting step at a higher temperature on a shaped mandrel. The sealing members made from the cylindrical braided materials can function to anchor or engage an implantable device to surrounding tissue and limit or prevent paravalvular leakage or other fluid flow around the implantable device when implanted.

Each of the gripping elements has a free end opposite its respective central portion-gripping element interface and a length “L1” defined between the respective central portion-gripping element interface and the free end. The length L1 fixation elements is at least about three times the width W1.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for controlling posture by using eye gaze technology and other interfaces to facilitate position changes in seating, such as in a wheelchair or bed, are provided. Example embodiments provide an Eye Gaze Posture Control System (“EGPCS”) which enables people with advanced motor neuron diseases or disabilities like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or muscular dystrophy to use eye gaze technologies to control their seating and bed positioning. In one embodiment, the example EGPCS comprises a posture and pressure advisor, logging and telemetry logic, a posture control application, device interface(s) to one or more other devices that control aspects of the powered wheelchair or bed, and eye gaze actuation control. These components cooperate to adjust position of a seat or a bed using eye gaze technology as opposed to by a virtual cursor or by manual control.

Abstract: In certain embodiments, an ophthalmic system that presents information describing an eye includes a memory, display device, and computer. The memory stores data describing the eye. The data includes measurements of the eye, and the measurements include one or more eye model measurements used to generate an eye model of the eye. The display device presents an image. The computer applies a light propagation technique to the eye model measurements to generate the eye model of the eye. The computer receives a selection of one or more parameters to use in a simulation performed using the eye model and applies the selected parameters to the eye model to yield one or more simulated focal areas. The computer instructs the display device to present the image that includes the simulated focal areas relative to the retinal plane of the eye.
Abstract: An arrangement for OCT-based laser treatment of vitreous floaters. The arrangement for OCT-based laser vitreolysis includes an OCT system, a laser system having a deflection unit, optical elements that couple the OCT system and the laser system, a display unit and a central control and operating unit. The OCT system is configured to localize the floaters, the laser system is configured to destroy the floaters by application of laser pulses and the central control and operating unit is configured to determine apart from the coordinates of the localized floaters also their distance to structures of the eye, to derive exclusion criteria for the treatment, to align the deflection unit of the laser system to these coordinates and to focus and activate the laser system. The present invention relates to an arrangement for the gentle, low risk and painless laser treatment of vitreous floaters, which enables partially or fully automated therapy.
