Abstract: In a method for controlled program execution by a portable data carrier, the value of a status counter (ZZ) is altered during execution of each controlled section (36.x) of an executed program (30) in order to reflect the processing of the respective controlled section (36.x); when executing a jump instruction (42.x), which causes one or more controlled sections (36.x) to be skipped, the value of the status counter (ZZ) is altered as if the skipped controlled sections (36.x) had been executed and the value of the status counter (ZZ) is compared at at least one test point (38) with at least one admissible value. A portable data carrier has corresponding features. The invention provides reliable protection against manipulations of the portable data carrier and is also suitable for application in executing complex programs.
Abstract: The invention relates to a data storage medium having a semiconductor chip which has at least one memory in which an operating program is stored which contains a number of commands, with each command producing signals which can be detected from outside the semiconductor chip. According to the invention, the data storage medium is designed such that data which is used more than once for a calculation process is scrambled using different functions.
Abstract: A system is proposed for performing transactions with terminals which fundamentally allow a plurality of different transactions to be performed. The terminals (10, 11) are connected for this purpose via a terminal network (30) with at least one node computer (40, 41) via which they can be set up for performing a transaction. The suitability for performing a further, hitherto unprepared transaction can be provided later anytime without any special setup measures. A terminal (10, 11) requests for this purpose data providing the functionality required for performing the further transaction from a node computer (40, 41) following a trigger signal designating the further transaction. The transaction is then performed in interaction between a terminal (10, 11) and a node computer (40, 41).

Abstract: A cassette, a control device, an automatic teller and a method for opening and/or closing such a cassette provided wherein the cassette can be opened and/or closed contactlessly by means of establishing a direct radio link between the cassette and a control device in order to open and/or close the plurality of cassettes simultaneously.
Abstract: A friction wheel singler for singling bank notes includes a singler roller 1 with grooves 2, and retaining wheels 14 cooperating with the grooves 2. The retaining wheels 14 have friction areas 14a and sliding areas 14b such that both a sliding area 14b and a friction area 14a cooperate with each groove 2 of the singler roller 1. Such a friction singler is particularly suitable for longitudinal singling of narrow bank notes and prevents skewing of the sheet to be singled during the singling process.

Abstract: A method for producing an optical element, preferably a security feature, wherein a film having a first embossed hologram in an embossing layer is provided, and a second embossed hologram is embossed into the same embossing layer such that the first embossed hologram is partly replaced with the second embossed hologram. The invention further relates to a method for producing an optical element wherein an embossable film provided with an embossed hologram is partly filled with printing lacquer, and a method for producing an optical element wherein hologram embossing is prevented by prior partial printing of the embossing film with curable printing lacquer. The invention relates further to optical features producible by the inventive methods, documents of value having an inventive optical feature and a numbering embosser for use in an inventive production method.
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for checking bank notes, having a linear sensor and a linear light source wherein the bank notes are moved past between the sensor and the light source for the check, and the sensor detects light from the light source transmitted by the bank notes. The invention starts out from the consideration of equipping the linear sensor and the linear light source each with an aperture such that the aperture of the light source is equal to or smaller than the aperture of the sensor.
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring bank notes for the presence of counterfeit bank notes provides for the detection of such data of each bank note to be monitored that permit a judgement to be made on the authenticity of the bank note. By way of the data detected, the authenticity of each bank note is judged, and in the event that the judgement of the authenticity of the respective bank note leads to the conclusion that a counterfeit and/or counterfeit suspect bank note is present, the data of the respective bank note are transferred to a data bank.
Abstract: Ultraviolet light is used for checking the authenticity of sheet material, in particular bank notes, whereby the ultraviolet light transmitted, i.e., pervading the sheet material to be checked, is used for checking authenticity.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for processing sheet material, in particular bank notes, papers of value and the like. When sheet material is checked for adherence to criteria, at least a group of sheet material fulfilling the criteria and a group of sheet material not fulfilling the criteria are formed. The group of sheet material not fulfilling the criteria is divided into at least two subgroups. This makes it possible to treat the subgroups separately during reworking and pay special attention to the presence of certain problems or errors, e.g. forgeries. This altogether obtains a facilitation of reworking, thereby reducing the effort.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for processing bank notes present as separate deposits. To improve the processing reliability of the individual deposits, it is provided that the beginning and/or end of each deposit is recognized, and a separate carrier is used for each deposit for transporting the deposit to processing.

Abstract: A halftone image original is converted into a line screen halftone image including regularly spaced-apart screen lines 5 that are modulated in their width y in accordance with the tonal value to be represented. According to the invention, width y of screen lines 5 is modulated only on one side so that screen lines 5 are flat on one side and width-modulated on one side. Various examples are stated for how this screen line modulation permits effective copy protection.
Abstract: The invention relates to a data carrier having a security element that is at least visually testable and has an embossing in at least a partial area, the embossing being a halftone blind embossing executed by inkless intaglio printing, and to a method for producing the data carrier and a printing plate for blind-embossing a security element.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein include such relating to security elements for embedment in security papers, value documents and the like, having a substrate foil having opposing first and second main surfaces, an optically variable security feature disposed on the first main surface and an adhesive layer applied to the second main surface. Further embodiments are disclosed including methods for manufacturing security elements, embodiments relating to security papers and value documents, and other embodiments.
Abstract: Printing plates for all-over printing of large areas by the intaglio printing process, a method for producing the printing plates and data carriers, in particular bank notes, with large-area printed images produced by the intaglio printing process area proposed. Flawless inking is ensured by providing partitions in the engraving of the printing plate which rise up vertically from the base of the engraved area and have at least a height of 50% of the engraving depth. The partitions largely prevent ink from being wiped out of the engraved areas when ink is wiped off the printing plate surface. This permits a large printed area to be covered all over with ink layers on a data carrier. By special arrangement and design of the partitions one can also produce fine structures in the printing area which area recognizable only with magnifying aids depending on the selected distances between the partitions.
