Abstract: The present inventors devised unique systems, methods, interfaces, and software for managing and leveraging knowledge in law firms and potentially other enterprises. For example, one system provides a single user interface for researching case law for online legal research service and identifying and accessing law-firm documents.

Abstract: The present invention provides a computer-implemented integrated professional services research, resource, and education delivery and management system. The invention integrates the professional services delivery aspect with the professional education, training and requirements aspect associated with professional services firms and concerns. The invention provides electronic filing and reporting of requirements related documents to maintain state certifications. By providing a more efficient learning environment that is more fully integrated in the practice of a given profession, the present invention promotes an environment that more quickly advances and cultivates the skills of professionals, especially those with little experience, and more closely relates such development with the particular areas in which the individual is engaged in the practice and delivery of professional services, thereby enhancing value delivered to the client.

Abstract: A method for evaluating an online entity presence includes receiving a set of social media information for at least one entity and calculating a social media measurement where the social media measurement is associated with the set of social media information. The method further includes receiving a set of online profile information for the at least one entity, the set of online profile information being associated with one or more non-social media online profiles, and calculating an online profile measurement wherein the online profile measurement is associated with the set of online profile information. The method further includes calculating a reach value, the reach value being associated with the social media measurement and the online profile measurement and providing a reach score to a user where the reach score associated with the reach value.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to implementing image-based retrieval of a cited reference in a written work. A unique alphanumeric identifier extracted from an image taken of a portion of a written work can be programmatically compared to stored identifiers in an authority database in response to a request received from a portable computing device. Cited reference data can be retrieved from the authority database in response to a favorably comparison of the unique alphanumeric identifier to at least one of the stored identifiers associated with a reference stored in the authority database and the cited reference data can be provided to the portable computing device for output on the display of the portable computing device.

Abstract: A method includes analyzing a cluster of conceptually-related portions of text to develop a model and calculating a novelty measurement between a first identified conceptually-related portion of text and the model. The method further includes transmitting a second identified conceptually-related portion of text and a score associated with the novelty measurement from a server to an access device via a signal. Another method includes determining at least two corpora of conceptually-related portions of text. The method also includes calculating a common neighbors similarity measurement between the at least two corpora of conceptually-related portions of text and if the common neighbors similarity measurement exceeds a threshold, merging the at least two corpora of conceptually-related portions of text into a cluster or if the common neighbors similarity measurement does not exceed a threshold, maintaining a non-merge of the at least two corpora of conceptually-related portions of text.

Abstract: A method includes receiving an entity record, wherein the entity record comprising at least one entity field element, and resolving the entity record to an authority record being associated with an initial authority file, wherein the authority record comprising at least one authority field element. The method further includes calculating a field element update measurement, the field element update measurement being associated with the at least one entity field element and the at least one authority field element and if the field element update measurement meets or exceeds a threshold, updating the authority record, or if not, not updating the authority record. The method further includes developing, in response to updating the authority record, an updated authority file associated with at least one updated authority record. The method also includes incorporating an additional authority record to the updated authority file.

Abstract: A method for using a messaging program across a multiple applications and communications environment includes engaging a multiple applications and communications environment. The multiple applications and communications environment comprises at least one primary application and at least one secondary application. The at least one primary application is associated with a primary work product object and the at least one secondary application is associated with a secondary work product object. The primary work product object and the secondary work product object are associated with a work product matter. The method further includes configuring a messaging program to establish a first chat instance within the primary work product object and a second chat instance within the secondary work product object. The first chat instance and the second chat instance are determined by a set of permissions related to the primary work product object.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided through which data parseable against a document type definition by generating a list of a possible paths of an input element that is not encoded against the document type definition, determining the path that is the best fit with the document type definition, and then generating the element in the syntax of the document type definition. Determining the path that is the best fit includes parsing the path against the document type definition. The best fit is expressed in a scoring scale, in which the best score indicates the best fit. Thereafter, the path with the best fit is translated in accordance to the document type definition or markup language.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to entity disambiguation in an interactive fashion based upon attributes. Once disambiguated, a manner in which to review a future article based upon an initial set of attributes and an additional set of attributes and, when needed, generate a warning flag based upon the review is also described. The warning flag may result in a change in the relationship between the entity and an organization such as a bank that is considering engaging in a business relationship with a candidate client, and that may subsequently abandon that plan, or a bank that had previously extended credit to the entity, and that subsequently may be less inclined as a result of the information retrieved by the present invention. A previously accepted entity may also be flagged for credit or anti-money laundering consideration if and when the applicant's situation (e.g., financial situation, involvement in anti-money laundering) changes.

Abstract: To facilitate legal research, companies, such as Thomson West provide subscription-based online information-retrieval systems. Seeking to improve these and/or related systems, the present inventors devised, among other things, an exemplary legal research system that performs a conventional search to identify a set of starter documents and then leverages the metadata associated with these starter documents to identify another larger set of relevant documents. Documents in this alternate set are then scored using, for example, a learning machine and feature vectors that account for metadata relationships between the starter documents and alternate documents.

Abstract: A data network storing data relating to work done by vendors for clients is described. The network includes two or more servers, each server containing (1) an exhaustive vendor data base that contains client-independent vendor data for every vendor, and (2) one or more individual client databases, each containing client information for a single client. The exhaustive vendor data base is replicated between the servers, and the client information for each client is contained by one individual client data base on one server.

Abstract: A method for enabling a user to search database profiles includes receiving user input categorizing an information need, and determining whether the user input corresponds to a first or a second type of category. In response to determining that the user input corresponds to the first category type, the method includes requesting user input defining a first query, and in response to receipt of the query, and executing the defined first query against a set of one or more databases based on the user input categorizing the information need. In response to determining that the user input corresponds to the second category type, the method includes requesting additional user input regarding the information need.

Abstract: Estimations of carbon dioxide (“CO2”) emission of an entity upon the condition of incomplete or missing data uses one or more algorithms implemented in a machine having a processor and a memory and data concerning the entity. The data is applied to an algorithm implemented as code executable in the processor. The algorithm produces a result that comprises an estimate of the CO2 emission of the entity. The CO2 emission estimate can be output to a user, and the underlying formula and data can inspected and optionally modified by users with suitable permissions. The CO2 emission estimate can be applied as a factor in a formula to compute a rating for the entity which can be output from the machine. Error estimates associated with the data used by the algorithm can be generated to provide improved estimates.

Abstract: A system, architecture and model for facilitating extensible messaging and interaction are provided. The message system may use a messaging architecture that includes a domain message model, and open message model and a wire format. The wire format may implement primitive data types that may be used by the open message model to define additional and/or more complex data formats. The open message model may further specify interaction paradigms, generic messages, and message and transport attributes. The generic messages may include payload data whose meaning and context may be defined using the domain message model. The domain message model may include a content definition model and an item type model for building data and object types and specifying data context and relationships. As such, the message system may use generic messages and formats to create different message and item types.

Abstract: The present inventors devised, among other things, an application development system and method. One exemplary method entails providing a set of legal research application feature or functions and receiving a first configuration file from a user, selectively enabling or disabling one or more of the features to define a first legal research application on a first server for a first country. The method further entails receiving a second configuration file from a user, which similarly selectively enables or disables one or more of the features to define a second legal research application on a second server for a second country. The configuration files also customize the user interfaces accord to brand specific criteria for each of the countries.

Abstract: To facilitate access to public records, the present inventors devised, among other things, an entity resolution system. The exemplary system includes master records database of 300 million entities, which is partitioned into multiple distinct portions. The exemplary system extracts entity information from input public records and constructs one or more blocking queries against specific portions of the master records database to identify one or more sets of candidate records. Feature vectors are defined for the candidate records and machine learning techniques, such as Support Vector Machine, are used to determine which of the candidate records from the master records database match the input public records. Candidate records that match are logically associated with public records, enabling ready access via direct or indirect queries.

Abstract: The present invention provides an improved docket search and analytics engine for determining the outcome of a case for a particular entity or party, for predicting the outcome of a case for a particular entity or party, or for predicting the time to resolution of a case for a particular entity or party. More specifically, the present invention provides a system and engine for accessing and retrieving docket and other data from a plurality of databases and applying by one or more engines a set of models to the retrieved data to make a determination or prediction as to the outcome of a case for an entity or party involved in the case.
