Abstract: According to aspects illustrated herein, a system, a method, and a machine-readable medium for designing business process applications is provided. The system includes: an application design interface and an object query language module. The application design interface provides an integrated development environment framework. The object query language module is operatively connected to the application design interface and a data source such that data flows between the application design interface and the data source.

Abstract: The present inventors devised, among other things, system, methods, and interfaces for researching, evaluating, and comparing expert witnesses. One exemplary system includes interfaces that facilitate users entering queries regarding experts based on name or subject matter and filtering search results based on damage awards, case types, attorneys, clients and date range. The system also enables side-by-side comparisons of the cumulative litigation history for multiple experts, and provides an expert challenge report that indicates whether an expert has been challenged in past litigation, the result of any challenges, the presiding judges in the any challenges, and the text of the challenged testimony.

Abstract: To address problems related to use and formation of tables of contents, the present inventors, devised among other things, an exemplary table-of-contents (TOC) data structure and related systems and methods. One exemplary method entails associating a node from one TOC with a node of another TOC and then assigning a unique identifier to the associated pair of nodes. The unique identifier can then be used to logically define another TOC that includes portions of the two original TOCs. Another exemplary method entails tagging or associating nodes of a TOC with one or more view labels. (Identifiers for node relationships rather than the nodes themselves are tagged with the labels in some embodiments.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to facilitate an integrated display of information to a user. According to some embodiments, a first service and a second service may be registered with a registry. The information stored in the registry might include, for example, indications that the first and/or second services are to receive data from disparate remote sources. According to some embodiments, placement information is received from a user to lay out the first and second services within a pane of an application. Moreover, information from the remote sources may be displayed to the user within the pane.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for developing and implementing a credit risk model using various sources of data, including price data, financial accounting ratios, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) data, and textual data are disclosed. Each source of data provides unique and distinct information about the health of an entity, such as a firm or company. The systems and techniques combine information from disparate sources to create a uniquely powerful signal. The systems and techniques can be used to predict a number of events including, but not limited to, probability of default or bankruptcy, loss given default, probability of rating agency rating change, and probability of equity price moves.

Abstract: In embodiments, a sentiment analyzer identifies a first event and accesses a first set of messages. The sentiment analyzer associates the first set of messages with the first event and analyzes the messages to identify a set of sentiment features. The set of sentiment features is used to analyze a second set of messages to form a prediction associated with a second event. The prediction may be used to facilitate an event-related service.

Abstract: The invention relates to an online information retrieval system having a queue for storing load requests and a set of two or more load managers for retrieving data from the queue and indexing documents based on the request retrieved from the queue. Each load manager resides in a different geographical location. A set of candidate documents comprise a unique identifier and a version indicator, wherein the unique identifier for each candidate document is identical for a given document and the version indicator is associated with a determination of which document within the set of candidate documents shall ultimately be communicated to a user.

Abstract: Estimations of carbon dioxide (“CO2”) emission of an entity upon the condition of incomplete or missing data uses one or more algorithms implemented in a machine having a processor and a memory and data concerning the entity. The data is applied to an algorithm implemented as code executable in the processor. The algorithm produces a result that comprises an estimate of the CO2 emission of the entity. The CO2 emission estimate can be output to a user, and the underlying formula and data can inspected and optionally modified by users with suitable permissions. The CO2 emission estimate can be applied as a factor in a formula to compute a rating for the entity which can be output from the machine. Error estimates associated with the data used by the algorithm can be generated to provide improved estimates.

Abstract: According to some embodiments, systems, methods, computer program code, and means are provided to receive a broadcast request and a message from a first mobile device where the first mobile device is associated with a first user, compare information in the message to information in a preferences database to match the message with at least a first recipient of the message, and to transmit the message to a second mobile device associated with at least the first recipient.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for improving the training of machine learning classifiers are disclosed. A classifier is trained using a set of validated documents that are accurately associated with a set of class labels. A subset of non-validated documents is also identified and is used to further train and improve accuracy of the classifier.

Abstract: The system and method described herein may be used to forecast realized volatility via wavelets and non-linear dynamics. In particular, a volatility time series that includes daily volatility values associated with a security may be decomposed into wavelets via multi-resolution analysis and dynamical properties associated with the individual wavelets may be analyzed to identify deterministic and non-deterministic wavelets and produce a volatility forecast derived from a fit computed on the deterministic wavelets. For example, the wavelets may be analyzed to discover time delay, Theiler, and embedding dimension values associated therewith, which may be used to project volatility values associated with each wavelet. The projected volatility values associated with each wavelet may then be summed to produce a volatility forecast associated with the security.

Abstract: The present inventors, devised among other things, an exemplary method of researching provisions of contracts. The exemplary method entails receiving user selection of one or more predefined queries for contractual precedents, and executing a search of one or more databases containing agreements based on the received user selection. After executing the search, the method entails displaying a subset of the search results based on a predefined filter stored in association with an identifier for the user. The predefined filter may filter based on traits such as jurisdiction, deal size, industry, or a list of companies.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed to value privately-held companies, at least in part, on publicly traded companies. A value is computed for a primary private company using a weighted average valuation multiple and a weighted average total return value associated with publicly traded companies. A confidence rating of the computed valuation is also provided.

Abstract: With conventional print and electronic tools, researching statutory material is difficult and time-consuming. So, to facilitate this type of research, the present inventors devised systems, methods, and software that promise to improve the ability of researchers to find, verify, read, and/or interpret statutory information. One exemplary system provides options for users to access statutory information by citation, by table of contents, by index, and/or by popular name; presents specific statutory information in combination with visual indicators, such as red or yellow flags, that indicate the validity or status of the information; and provides requested statutory information in context of links to related information, such as tables of contents, other versions of a statute, case law, scholarly materials, legislative history, cross-referenced statutes, and administrative-law materials.

Abstract: A portable container having an exterior surface and defining an interior compartment. The portable container includes a photovoltaic (PV) charging pack and a receiving device coupled to the exterior surface for detachably coupling the PV charging pack to the exterior surface. The PV charging pack includes a PV panel and defines a compartment for containing a portable electronic device. The PV panel is oriented away from the exterior surface when the PV charging pack is coupled to the receiving device.

Abstract: An asymmetric approach for compressing digital data, or digitized analog data, uses dictionary-based compression for a transmitter and receiver communicating over a lossy unidirectional communication channel. The transmitter is responsible for generating active dictionaries, selecting appropriate dictionaries for compressing data, retiring old dictionaries, and sending new dictionaries to the receiver. The receiver passively stores the dictionaries from the transmitter and uses the right stored dictionary to decompress data received from the transmitter, as indicated by instructions in the compressed data set.

Abstract: The present inventors devised, among other things, systems, methods, and software for enhancing the relevancy of content presented to users in response to queries in an online information retrieval system. One exemplary system refines a user input query by making suggestions of alternatives queries. A switchboard module converts the refined query, administers one or more searches, and collects search results from one or more search engines based on the refined query. And, a post-processor module refines the collected search results by, for example, modifying the order of the results, removing inappropriate or undesirable content from the results, and/or applying historical performance analysis, based for example on social feedback.
