  • Publication number: 20160280274
Abstract: A vehicle includes a chassis having a pair of rails spaced from each other and a deployable reinforcing device extending between the rails. The deployable reinforcing device includes a beam disposed between the pair of rails and including walls and hinges connected in alternating arrangement. The walls are rotatable about the hinges from a collapsed position to an expanded position. The device includes a deployment mechanism disposed between the walls. When a vehicle impact is sensed, the deployment mechanism is deployed to expand the beam to the expanded position to reinforce the rails.

  • Patent number: 9455653
Abstract: Phase currents of an inverter-driven electric machine are measured by mounting phase conductors of each respective phase current into a central passage of a respective flux core. A plurality of current sensors are mounted into a gap of each respective flux core to generate a respective plurality of current signals for each phase current. The Hall-effect devices are connected to a plurality of multi-channel op amp devices for conditioning the current signals such that each set of Hall-effect devices is connected to a different one of the op amp devices and such that each op amp device receives one current signal corresponding to each phase current. Thus, a valid conditioned current signal corresponding to each phase conductor is generated by the op amp devices unless there are multiple simultaneous failures of the Hall-effect devices and the op amp devices.

  • Patent number: 9452507
Abstract: The invention provides a method of manufacturing a polishing pad suitable for planarizing at least one of semiconductor, optical and magnetic substrates. The method obtains a liquid polyurethane material formed from an isocyanate-terminated molecule and a curative agent. The liquid polyurethane material contains 4.2 to 7.5 weight percent fluid-filled polymeric microspheres in the isocyanate-terminated molecule. The fluid-filled polymeric microspheres are a blend of preexpanded and unexpanded fluid-filled polymeric microspheres. The liquid polyurethane material contains a blend of preexpanded and unexpanded fluid-filled polymeric microspheres having a relative viscosity ? ? 0 of 1.1 to 7. Then the liquid polyurethane material solidifies into a polyurethane matrix that contains preexpanded and expanded fluid-filled polymeric microsphere for forming the polishing pad.

  • Patent number: 9452657
Abstract: Ride height for use in an adaptive suspension damping system, tiltable headlamp systems, or other systems is determined for first and second wheels which are mounted to first and second suspensions having first and second control arms coupled between the respective wheels and a frame of the vehicle. An anti-roll system is coupled between the control arms. A mechanical height sensor is coupled to the first wheel to directly sense a first height associated with the first wheel. A strain sensor is coupled to the anti-roll system to generate a strain signal in response to a strain in the anti-roll system. A controller converts the strain signal to a second height associated with the second wheel. Thus, ride heights for both wheels on opposite sides of the vehicle are obtained using only one direct height measurement.

  • Patent number: 9452718
Abstract: An electronic device holder provides a top mounted tablet holder with a thirty degree rotational limit to its rearward swinging motion of a mounting surface. This concept has the dual benefit that the path of the electronic device holder and a viewer's upper body do not intersect during an impact event. Thus, any contact between the viewer and the tablet or device holder will be a glancing impact, as opposed to a perpendicular impact vector. As coupled to a headrest support system, the electronic device holder can move downward along the support system during impact. Further, the mounting surface of the electronic device holder is configured to move away from a potential point of impact while fully retaining an electronic device mounted thereto.
