Abstract: A method and system for parking assistance for a vehicle, wherein the parking of said vehicle on a parking space at least partly occupied by a second vehicle is enabled by transmitting a maneuver request to the second vehicle. The method includes the steps of: allocating a priority to the driver of the first vehicle, wherein said priority implements a classification of said driver with respect to the extent to which the driver is entitled to the prioritized use of the parking space; and transmitting the maneuver request to the second vehicle based on said priority.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for a high-pressure exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system of a parallel twin-turbocharged internal combustion engine. Using an EGR cooler with a single exhaust inlet and outlet to cool recirculated exhaust gas may increase the complexity and size of the engine package, along with adding unnecessary cost from extra ductwork to decrease the chance of turbocharger boost imbalance. To provide a way to reduce package size without affecting engine performance, an EGR cooler with two exhaust inlets and outlets is used to cool exhaust flows leading from two cylinder banks.
Abstract: A wheelhouse cladding step assembly includes a step movable between a closed position and an open or deployed position in which the step is located proximal the wheelhouse of the vehicle and provides improved access to the roof and/or rooftop cargo storage of the vehicle. The step is designed to have a shape matching the shape of the wheelhouse of the vehicle and is preferably curved and when in the closed position shows a surface that matches the vehicle trim to hide the step. The assembly includes hinges and a latching mechanism that are also contained within the assembly so they are hidden when the step is in the closed position.

Abstract: Stress-relief grooves are provided in a pressure plate of a friction element assembly in a motor vehicle comprising a transmission. The friction element assembly includes a piston assembly provided for applying a force to a set of plates and friction members to cause torque to be transmitted through the friction element assembly. A pressure plate is supported by the housing and held in place by a snap ring mounted in a mounting groove. The pressure plate includes a first side facing the set of plates and friction members and a second side having at least one stress-relief groove configured to reduce stress in the housing at the mounting groove.
Abstract: Exemplary illustrations of a method of making a wheel may include stamping a wheel blank, and forming a lip extending about a periphery of an aperture defined by the wheel blank. The aperture may be configured to receive a valve stem. The method may further include refining the lip about the periphery of the aperture. The lip may define an axial thickness greater than a baseline thickness of the wheel blank adjacent the aperture. Abstract: A vehicle transmission includes a transmission shaft, a friction element assembly mounted on the transmission shaft, a piston assembly for actuating the friction element assembly, a snap ring for retaining the friction element assembly and a mounting groove formed in the transmission shaft. The snap ring is installed into the mounting groove by expanding the snap ring and then allowing the snap to contract and enter the mounting groove. The mounting groove is located such that the snap ring could exit the mounting groove upon expansion of the snap ring due to a centrifugal force. Accordingly, various arrangements are provided to prevent the snap ring from leaving the mounting groove after installation.

Abstract: A ventilation system is provided for a transportation vehicle having a passenger cabin with an interior trim surface. A stationary duct segment receives an inlet air flow and has a stationary outlet hidden behind the interior trim surface. A telescoping duct segment has a sliding inlet sealingly coupled to the stationary outlet so that it slides on the stationary outlet between a retracted position and an extended position. The telescoping duct segment has a movable outlet arranged to provide a variable flow cross section to the passenger cabin that increases as the telescoping duct segment slides from the retracted position to the extended position. A trim hood provides a portion of the interior trim surface and is movable with the telescoping duct segment. The trim hood has a pivot axis at an end of the trim hood remote from the movable outlet.
Abstract: A foamable formulation composition comprises at least 50 weight percent of an ethylene/?-olefin interpolymer having a Comonomer Distribution Constant in the range of from 15 to 250; a density in the range of from 0.875 to 0.963 g/cm3; a melt index (I2) in a range of from 0.5 to 5 g/10 minutes; and long chain branching frequency in the range of from 0.05 to 3 long chain branches (LCB) per 1000 C; (2) a blowing agent; and (3) a cross link agent. The formulation may be processed to result in a foam having a density ranging from 0.05 to 0.25 g/cm3 and have properties such as split tear, compression set, and/or shrinkage percentage that are improved in comparison with otherwise-identical formulations lacking the identified ethylene/?-olefin interpolymer in comparable amount. These foams may be particularly useful for a variety of applications, including, in particular, footwear applications.
