Abstract: A method for assessing performance of a thermal management system configured for thermally managing a battery pack of an electric vehicle. The method may include determining a voltage response of the battery pack while subjected to a test load and generating a thermal assessment for the thermal management system based on the voltage response and/or resistivity values derived therefrom.

Abstract: A method and system for assisting a vehicle when traveling within an area experiencing a meteorological event capable of potentially flooding a roadway is disclosed. The assistance may include determining a water level over top of the roadway, determining a plurality of surface water related operating parameters for the vehicle, and comparing the water level to the surface water related operating parameters to generate a flooded roadway assessment. The flooded roadway assessment may be used for determining the roadway to be in one of a passable state and an impassable state for the vehicle. Based thereon, a flooded roadway command may be generated for correspondingly controlling one or more systems onboard the vehicle.

Abstract: Herein, a technology is discussed that facilitates the reduction of vehicle-related crime by disabling the use of a vehicle's engine when the vehicle is parked in a high-risk crime zone. The technology includes a method that sends a parked location of the vehicle to a data center and receives, from the data center, an indication to enable remote ignition block (RIB) of the vehicle when the parked location is part of a high-risk crime zone. In response, the vehicle enables RIB so that its engine will not start.

Abstract: A system of controlling operation of a vehicle includes one or more sensors operatively connected to the vehicle. The sensors are configured to obtain respective data of a scene and include a radar unit. A command unit is adapted to receive the respective data and includes a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which instructions are recorded. The command unit is configured to determine an orientation angle of a pedestrian in the scene, a Doppler frequency of the pedestrian and a distance of the pedestrian from a border of a road, based in part on the respective data. The orientation angle is based on a heading of the pedestrian relative to a direction of a road. The command unit is configured to designate a status of the pedestrian as either crossing or not crossing based on the distance, the orientation angle and the Doppler frequency of the pedestrian.

The voltage regulation device includes a diode bridge circuit configured to mitigate overvoltage transients at the electric motor. Abstract: A system for authenticating communications from a vehicle to a remote assistance unit includes a connectivity module (CM) installed in the vehicle. A security device is adapted to transmit messages when the security device is within a predefined proximity of the CM. A security cloud unit is configured to validate the security device based in part on a first pair of complementary keys, including a first factory key stored by the security device and a second factory key stored by the security cloud unit. The first pair of complementary keys is configured for asymmetric encryption such that the first factory key is solely decryptable with the second factory key. The remote assistance unit is configured to authenticate an integrity of the CM based in part on a second pair of complementary keys which are dynamically generated by the security cloud unit.

Abstract: A method includes receiving sensor data from a plurality of sensors of a plurality of vehicles. The sensor data includes vehicle GPS data and sensed lane line data of the roadway. The method further includes creating a plurality of multi-layer bitmaps for each of the plurality of vehicles using the sensor data, fusing the plurality of the multi-layer bitmaps of each of the plurality of vehicles to create a fused multi-layer bitmap, creating a plurality of multi-layer probability density bitmaps using the fused multi-layer bitmap, extracting lane line data from the plurality of multi-layer probability density bitmaps, and creating the high-definition (HD) map of the roadway using the multi-layer probability density bitmaps and the lane line data extracted from the plurality of multi-layer probability density bitmaps.
