Abstract: A method includes obtaining information about a lead vehicle. The lead vehicle is traveling directly ahead of the host vehicle and the information includes velocity of the lead vehicle and a gap g between the host vehicle and the lead vehicle. Based on detecting a change in the velocity of the lead vehicle in the information, a corresponding desired acceleration is computed for the host vehicle using perceived acceleration of the lead vehicle to maintain the gap g within a specified range of gap values. The perceived acceleration of the lead vehicle is based on the change in the velocity indicated by the information. Based on a check of parameters involved in the computing the corresponding desired acceleration, a modified desired acceleration is computed for the host vehicle using a lag for the lead vehicle that results in an intended acceleration of the lead vehicle differing from the perceived acceleration.

Abstract: A quality control system analyzes the quality of a battery cell, with the battery cell defining a gas pouch configured to expand from a deflated configuration to an inflated configuration when filled with a gas formed during a cell formation process. The system comprises a computational system comprising a processor and a memory and a measurement instrument in electronic communication with the computational system. The measurement instrument is arranged to measure a distance defined by the gas pouch and transmit a signal to the computational system corresponding to the distance. The computational system is arranged to analyze the distance with the processor and determine a volumetric measurement of the gas within the gas pouch and compare the volumetric measurement to a threshold in the memory to assess a quality score for the battery cell. A corresponding method analyzes the quality of the battery cell with the quality control system.

Abstract: A method of making a reference electrode assembly for an electrochemical cell according to various aspects of the present disclosure includes providing a subassembly including a separator layer and a current collector layer coupled to the separator layer. The method further includes providing an electrode ink including an electroactive material, a binder, and a solvent. The method further includes creating a reference electrode precursor by applying an electroactive precursor layer to the current collector layer. The electroactive precursor layer covers greater than or equal to about 90% of a superficial surface area of a surface of the current collector layer. The electroactive precursor layer includes the electrode ink. The method further includes creating the reference electrode assembly by drying the electroactive precursor layer to remove at least a portion of the solvent, thereby forming an electroactive layer. The electroactive layer is solid and porous.
