Abstract: A system for multiple wireless systems of vehicle to share cabling. The system may include a plurality of first antennas to interface signals with a first transceiver as part of a first wireless system and a plurality of second antennas to interface signals with a second transceiver as part of a second wireless system. The system may include a first switch configured to selectively connect the first and second antennas to first and second cables and a second switch configured to selectively connect the first and second transceivers to the first and second cables such that the first and second antennas and transceivers share the first and second cables.

Abstract: A system for adaptive in-drive updating, for a vehicle travelling on a route, includes a controller adapted to obtain a pre-drive energy consumption prediction for the route, via an energy consumption predictor. An in-drive updating module is selectively executable by the controller at a timepoint during the route at which a completed portion of the route has been traversed and a remaining portion remains untraversed. The controller is adapted to obtain an actual energy consumption for segments in the completed portion of the route. The controller is adapted to obtain at least one modification factor based on a comparison of the actual energy consumption and the pre-drive energy consumption prediction for the segments in the completed portion of the route. The pre-drive energy consumption prediction for the remaining portion of the route is adjusted based on the modification factor.

Abstract: A system for active roll control for a vehicle body is provided and includes a sensor operable to monitor a tilt of the body and a suspension system. The suspension system includes an active sway bar including a first bar portion, a second bar portion, and an active roll control motor disposed between the first bar portion and the second bar portion. The active roll control motor is operable to turn the first bar portion in relation to the second bar portion. The system further includes a computerized active roll control controller which is operative to monitor a driving mode including one of straight-line driving and rounding a curve on a road, monitor an output of the sensor, determine a desired roll moment based upon the driving mode and the output of the sensor, and control the active roll control motor based upon the desired roll moment.

Abstract: A battery cell pack has a plurality of battery cells that are assembled into a prismatic frame, with deformable separators interposed to accommodate elastic and plastic deformation caused by cyclic and acyclic expansion and contraction thereof during charging and discharging over the life of the battery cell pack. The battery cells are arranged in a horizontal stack within the prismatic frame, and the deformable separators are interposed between subsets of the battery cells. The deformable separators exert compressive force on the subsets of the battery cells along a longitudinal axis that is defined by the horizontal stack. The compressive force exerted by the deformable separators is at least a minimum force over a service life of the battery cell pack.

Abstract: A method of using perception-inspired event generation for situation awareness for a vehicle, including receiving perception input data from a sensor of the vehicle and processing the perception input data to classify and generate parameters related to an external entity in a vicinity of the vehicle. The method includes generating a hierarchical event structure that classifies and prioritizes the perception input data by classifying the external entity into an attention zone and prioritizing the external entity within the attention zone according to a risk level value for the external entity. A higher risk level value indicates a higher priority within the attention zone. The method further includes developing a behavior plan for the vehicle based on the hierarchical event structure.

Abstract: An emergency disconnect circuit for use with a high-voltage (HV) bus of a battery electric system, e.g., aboard a mobile system, includes a pyrotechnic switch and a manual switch. The pyrotechnic switch configured irreversibly opens in response to an electronic triggering signal to disconnect an HV battery pack from the HV bus in a first manner. The manual switch is arranged on a low-voltage (LV) bus in series with and between the pyrotechnic switch and an LV power supply. Transition of the manual switch from an open position to a closed position connects the LV power supply to the pyrotechnic switch. This causes the LV power supply to discharge the triggering signal to the pyrotechnic switch. When used aboard a mobile system, an electronic monitoring unit generates the triggering signal in a second manner in response to a threshold impact event.

Abstract: A split-phase bidirectional on-board charger (OBC) has separate charging and discharging modes, and includes a switchgear block connectable to an offboard charging station during the charging mode, and to an external alternating current (AC) load during the discharging mode. The OBC includes first and second DC-AC converters connected to the switchgear block and DC-DC converter connected to the first and second DC-AC converters and a DC bus. During the charging mode, the DC-AC converters output a DC link voltage to the DC-DC converter. The DC-DC converter outputs a DC charging voltage or current to the DC bus when the link voltage reaches a predetermined value. During the discharging mode, the DC-AC converters receive a DC discharging voltage or current from the DC-DC converter and together selectively output a split-phase AC voltage through the switchgear block to the AC electrical load.

Abstract: A battery pack includes battery cells and an interconnect board assembly (ICBA) having a dielectric ICB and parallel busbars. A cell tab protrudes from an edge of the cells and joined to the busbars. A dielectric ICB is connected to the busbars at one distal end of the busbars. The dielectric material of the ICB is overmolded onto another distal end such that the ICB wraps around the busbars to form overmolded ends. The overmolded ends are received within a pocket of a bracket to form direct parallel cooling paths to a heat sink. A method of manufacturing the battery pack includes arranging the busbars in parallel, overmolding dielectric material onto ends of the busbars to form overmolded ends, and attaching the busbars to a plastic ICB formed from the dielectric material. The ICBA is then attached to the bracket and cells.

The controller monitors a geographic location of the vehicle determine the geographic location of the vehicle in relation to a first predefined region and a first user-identified region. The powertrain system is controlled to generate propulsion power employing only the electric power propulsion system when the geographic location of the vehicle is within the first predefined region and when the geographic location of the vehicle is within the first user-identified region. The powertrain system is controlled to generate propulsion power employing the second propulsion system when the geographic location of the vehicle is outside the first predefined region and outside the first user-identified region.
