Abstract: In various embodiments, methods, systems, and vehicle apparatuses are provided. A method for determining a trusted context of operation by an in-vehicle Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS) for learning of a vehicle platform, including executing the NIDS to monitor a set of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and vehicle state elements by receiving a set of vehicle derived inputs about a vehicle's operating state; in response to a determination about the vehicle's operating state, identifying the trusted window during which learning about network topology and whitelisted messages contained in a vehicle platform is allowable; creating a vehicle-specific configuration containing a list of networks of topologies and whitelisted messages in use by the ECUs in the vehicle platform, and preventing misconfiguring of at least one network in the list of network topologies and whitelisted messages of the vehicle-specific configuration in the vehicle platform outside the trusted window.

Abstract: Systems and methods of detecting and validating a turn light indicator in a vehicle include receiving optical perception data from an optical perception system. The optical perception data includes data describing a detected turn indicator light of another vehicle perceived by the optical perception system including a status of the detected turn indicator light. A turn indicator light signal is generated in the form of a time varying waveform based on the status of the detected turn indicator light. A duty cycle and frequency of the turn indicator light signal is obtained. An assessment is made whether the detected turn indicator light is a valid detection by comparing the duty cycle and frequency with predetermined bounds. When the detected turn indicator light is assessed to be a valid detection, then an automated feature of the vehicle is controlled based on the data describing the detected turn indicator light.

Abstract: A supervisory control system is disclosed that provides an operator situational awareness interface use with monitoring a plurality of automated vehicles (AVs). The system is configured to: generate a map of a geographical area of interest; obtain location data and perceived risk data for a plurality of AVs in the geographical area; generate a vehicle icon corresponding to each AV; position the vehicle icon for each AV on the map based on the location data for a corresponding AV; apply a color coding to each vehicle icon based on a perceived risk level for a corresponding AV; and signal a display device to display an AV fleet map graphic that includes the color coded vehicle icons positioned on the map. The controller may be further configured to: generate an AV servicing queue graphic that displays vehicle icons in an order based on a determined servicing priority.

Abstract: A display system for a vehicle includes a light source configured to emit a light and a fiber-optic cable coupled to the light source. The fiber-optic cable has a first fiber end and a second fiber end opposite the first fiber end. The first fiber end is coupled to the light source. The second fiber end is attached to a vehicle body of a vehicle. The display system includes a piezoelectric actuator coupled to the fiber-optic cable end adjacent to the second fiber end. Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling a sunshade of a vehicle. The methods and systems receive a route plan from a first location to a second location, predict a sun parameter indicative of sun glare on the window for the route plan based on solar direction and vehicle heading at distributed locations throughout the route plan, and activate the sunshade based on the sun parameter so as to shade the window.
Abstract: Catalyst systems that are resistant to high-temperature sintering and methods for preparing such catalyst systems that are resistant to sintering at high temperatures are provided. Methods of forming such catalyst systems include contacting a support having a surface including a catalyst particle with a solution comprising a metal salt and having an acidic pH. The metal salt is precipitated onto the surface of the support. Next, the metal salt is calcined to selectively generate a porous coating of metal oxide on the surface of the support distributed around the catalyst particle.

Abstract: A method determines translational and/or rotational deviations between the measurement coordinate system of a measurement mirror scanner and the processing coordinate system of a processing mirror scanner. A measurement beam reflected at a workpiece returns on a path of an incident measurement beam and is captured by a spatially resolving measurement sensor to ascertain spatially resolving information of the workpiece. The reflected measurement beam, in a sensor image of the measurement sensor, is imaged onto a previously known image position. This is accomplished by ascertaining a focal position deviation of the processing beam by scanning with the processing beam, evaluating a laser power detected at grid points, fixing the processing mirror scanner, capturing spatially resolving height information of the pinhole diaphragm by the measurement sensor, and determining a translational deviation between the processing and measurement coordinate systems based on the deviation.

Abstract: A method of forming a shaped steel object is provided. The method includes cutting a blank from an alloy composition including 0.05-0.5 wt. % carbon, 4-12 wt. % manganese, 1-8 wt. % aluminum, 0-0.4 wt. % vanadium, and a remainder balance of iron. The method also includes heating the blank until the blank is austenitized to form a heated blank, transferring the heated blank to a press, forming the heating blank into a predetermined shape to form a stamped object, and decreasing the temperature of the stamped object to a temperature between a martensite start (Ms) temperature of the alloy composition and a martensite final (Mf) temperature of the alloy composition to form a shaped steel object comprising martensite and retained austenite.
Abstract: An occupant detection system for an interior cabin area of a vehicle includes one or more signal conversion devices including conversion circuitry and a wireless control module including a multi-band transceiver having two or more transceivers. The wireless control module executes instructions to continuously send, by a first transceiver, signals on a first frequency band. The wireless control module executes instructions to receive, by a second transceiver, signals on a second frequency band from a signal conversion device. The wireless control module compares original training symbols from the signals on the first frequency band with training symbols from the signals on the second frequency band to determine a change in value of in one or more channel state information (CSI) parameters, and determines one or more occupants are present within the interior cabin area of the vehicle based on the change in one or more CSI parameters.
