Patent number: 12187316Abstract: The present technology pertains to determining whether traffic signal cameras of an AV are miscalibrated. One technique for determining if a given traffic signal camera is miscalibrated includes obtaining an image from a traffic signal camera, marking the location of a traffic signal in the image with a bounding box, and determining if the light sources of the traffic signal are within the bounding box. If not, an alternate reason check is performed to determine whether an alternate reason exists for why the light source of the traffic signal is not within the bounding box. If no such reason exists, then the traffic signal camera may be miscalibrated. An additional calibration check may be performed using images from two traffic signal cameras of the AV each having four common light sources, and performing a homographic computation using the location of the light sources in the images.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2022Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Assignee: GM Cruise Holdings LLCInventors: Himil Narayan Sheth, Zhizhong Yan

Publication number: 20250007799Abstract: Vehicles, e.g., autonomous vehicles, can have sophisticated networked systems onboard. A networked system for a vehicle may include many edge devices, such as sensors, network devices, microcontrollers, boards, operating systems, etc. Many edge devices may report health status information to help vehicles achieve a certain integrity level and safety goals. The health status information may be collected and processed by a compute system to assess whether certain flags or alerts should be raised, and whether the vehicle should enter a degraded state of operation. It is not trivial to implement an effective and efficient framework that can manage many edge devices in a networked system reporting a high volume of health status information. An edge devices diagnostics framework may ensure reliable transmission of health status information, mechanisms for fault injection, and the use of configuration templates to standardize and simplify configuration of monitors for various edge devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2023Publication date: January 2, 2025Applicant: GM Cruise Holdings LLCInventors: Christopher Allen Johnson, Matthew Fornero, Pierre Souillot, Malik Saafir
