  • Patent number: 12123728
Abstract: Service disruption prevention through monitoring dynamic geofencing is disclosed. The present disclosure seeks to prevent (or drastically reduce the probability) mass vehicle recovery events due to fragile portions of the map. Tooling is used to actively monitor chokepoints and new avoidance areas. Comprised by the operational design domain (ODD), geofences are actively changed in response to the state of the chokepoints and avoidance areas. Varying states can be assigned to a plurality of geofences within the ODD, for example, if a geofence reaches a critical state, one or more areas can be cut off from the ODD.

  • Patent number: 12122349
Abstract: A system for controlling torque in a vehicle includes a controller connected to a propulsion system having a plurality of independently controllable actuators configured to apply a combined torque. The controller is configured to perform a method including detecting a combined torque request indicating a total requested torque to be applied to the vehicle, where the total requested torque is split and a portion of the total requested torque is assigned to each actuator. The method further includes determining a torque command for each actuator, estimating a total applied torque provided to the vehicle, and based on a difference between the total applied torque and the total requested torque being greater than a first threshold, calculating an error value for each actuator, comparing each error value to a reference value, and performing a remedial action based on at least one error value exceeding the reference value.

  • Patent number: 12122381
Abstract: A full speed range adaptive cruise control system for a vehicle that stops at an intersection includes one or more controllers that execute instructions to receive localization data and situational data related to the vehicle. The one or more controllers determine, based on localization data and situational data, that the vehicle is approaching an intersection and will come to a stop at the intersection, where the vehicle is part of a queue including one or more surrounding vehicles. In response to determining the vehicle has come to a stop, the controller determines a position of the vehicle within the queue and an overall length of the queue. The controller calculates an adaptive launch time based on at least the position of the vehicle within the queue, the overall length of the queue, the situational data, and a timing delay associated with the queue.

  • Patent number: 12122370
Abstract: A method is described and includes receiving an indication that a collision between a vehicle and an object is predicted; processing first sensor data obtained from a first onboard sensor of the vehicle to determine whether an actual occurrence of the predicted collision can be confirmed from the first sensor data and if not, processing second sensor data obtained from a second onboard sensor of the vehicle to determine whether the actual occurrence of the predicted collision can be confirmed from the second sensor data. If the actual occurrence of the predicted collision is confirmed from one of the first sensor data and the second sensor data, determining a severity of the collision based on the indication and the one of the first sensor data and the second sensor data; and prompting an action to be based on the determined severity of the collision.

  • Patent number: 12122422
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosed technology provide solutions for improving object detection and in particular, for improving object detection by an autonomous vehicle (AV) perceptions stack. In some aspects, a process of the disclosed technology can include steps for receiving first sensor data corresponding with an environment around the first vehicle, wherein the first sensor data represents one or more objects in the environment, receiving second sensor data corresponding with the environment around the first vehicle, and formulating a navigation route, by the first vehicle, based on the one or more occluded objects in the environment. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

  • Patent number: 12122390
Abstract: A system for obtaining vehicle status data includes a location sensor configured to obtain location data for one or more connected devices in or around the vehicle. The vehicle has a plurality of seats, including at least one seat without an occupant sensor. The location data is obtained based at least partially on radiofrequency waves. A command unit is adapted to receive the location data. The command unit has a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which instructions are recorded. The command unit is adapted to obtain the vehicle status data in real time based in part on the location data of the one or more connected devices, the vehicle status data including a total number of occupants in the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 12123329
Abstract: A valve assembly includes a valve body defining a bore therein, a valve stem, a spring retainer, a valve spring, and a detent mechanism. The valve stem extends through the bore in the valve body and is adjustable between an open position and a closed position. The spring retainer is spaced apart from the valve body along a longitudinal axis of the valve stem and fixed relative to the valve body. The spring retainer defines a bore through which the valve stem extends. The valve spring is captured between the valve body and the spring retainer and is configured to apply a biasing force to the valve stem that biases the valve stem toward the closed position. The detent mechanism is configured to increase the biasing force applied to the valve stem when the valve stem is in the closed position or within a predetermined distance of the closed position.
