Patents Assigned to Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
  • Patent number: 5631426
Abstract: A sensor, and a sensor object combination, makes possible the collection of vibratory data from an object while reducing extraneous data and making easier the obtainment of the data. The sensor comprises an elastomeric housing which includes a concave cup portion, and pick-up devices for collecting vibration signals. The concave cup portion comprises a suction cup which makes possible vacuum attachment of the pickup device to the object being tested. The data signal may be amplified, analyzed, and ultimately the data may be analyzed by a computer.

  • Patent number: 5629256
Abstract: The subject invention relates to an anionic polymerization technique for synthesizing rubbery polymers of conjugated diolefin monomers, such as rubbery copolymer of .alpha.-methylstyrene and 1,3-butadiene. These rubbery copolymers exhibit an excellent combination of properties for utilization in tire tread rubber compounds. They have high trans-isomer contents which leads to good treadwear characteristics and a broad molecular weight distribution which enhances processability.

  • Patent number: 5627237
Abstract: This invention reveals a pneumatic tire having an outer circumferential tread wherein said tread is a sulfur-cured rubber composition comprised of, based on 100 parts by weight of rubber, (1) from about 5 to about 50 parts of 3,4-polyisoprene rubber, wherein said 3,4-polyisoprene rubber has (a) a 3,4-isomer content of from 75 percent to 95 percent, (b) a 1,2-isomer content of from 5 percent to 25 percent, (c) a glass transition temperature from 0.degree. to 25.degree. C. and (d) a number average molecular weight which is within the range of 30,000 to 180,000; and (2) from about 50 to about 95 parts of a rubbery polymer which is co-curable with the 3,4-polyisoprene rubber.

  • Patent number: 5622576
Abstract: An improved off-the-road pneumatic tire designed to be mounted on an associated design rim having a flange portion is described. The rim flange has an axially inward surface contacting the axially outward portion of the bead area of the tire. Each bead portion has a surface contacting a radially inner portion of the rim flange. The surface and the flange initially cease contact and diverge from one another at a location in the cross-section of the tire and rim and in a region of the flange in which a line L1 tangent to the flange surface and passing through the axis forms an angle greater than 0.degree. and less than or equal to 15.degree. with a radial line L2 passing through the point of divergence and perpendicular to the axis. The tire has a steel reinforced radial ply which extends between and wraps about each bead. The ply has an inflection point located radially between a radially outward surface of the bead and a radially outward surface of the rim flange portion.
