Abstract: Nonwoven textile fabrics in accordance with the present invention include a web of entangled polymeric fibers with substantially pectin-free, individualized bast fibers having a mean length less than 9 millimeters (mm). A method of making a nonwoven fabric includes forming a web of polymeric fibers, forming a randomly arrayed fiber web of the substantially individualized bast fibers having a mean length less than 9 mm, disposing the web of the substantially individualized bast fibers onto the web of polymeric fibers, and entangling the polymeric fibers with the substantially individualized bast fibers to form the nonwoven fabric. In addition, laminates include the nonwoven fabric, a film, and an adhesive disposed between the fabric and the film to bond the nonwoven fabric to the film.

Abstract: A process of analyzing wear on a papermaking fabric includes forming a first representation of a portion of a surface of the fabric showing locations and sizes of knuckles and pockets in the surface of the fabric. A first image is generated based on the first representation. At least one characteristic related to the surface of the fabric is determined using the first image. The fabric is worn. A second representation of a portion of the surface of the fabric is formed showing locations and sizes of knuckles and pockets in the surface of the fabric. A second image of the knuckles of the fabric is generated based on the second representation. At least one characteristic related to the surface of the fabric is determined using the second image. The determining steps are performed using an image analysis program stored in a non-transitory computer readable medium.

Abstract: A process of forming a papermaking fabric. A value of at least one characteristic of a first papermaking fabric is determined. The at least one characteristic is related to one of (i) knuckles in the first papermaking fabric, (ii) pockets in the first papermaking fabric, and (iii) both knuckles and pockets in the first papermaking fabric. A second papermaking fabric is formed. The second papermaking fabric is configured such that a value of the at least one characteristic in the second papermaking fabric is different from the value of the characteristic in the first papermaking fabric.

Abstract: Products having improved caliper, sheet bulk and absorbency and methods for making those products are described. The method comprises producing a multi-ply product having different emboss patterns on each ply where the emboss patterns are made up of emboss elements having an aspect ratio of from about 1 to about 2.
Abstract: An absorbent cellulosic sheet made by a method that includes forming an aqueous cellulosic web on a portion of a structuring fabric in a papermaking machine, and drying the cellulosic web to form the absorbent cellulosic sheet. The portion of the structuring fabric on which the cellulosic web is formed has a planar volumetric index of at least about 26. The absorbent cellulosic sheet has a caliper of at least about 160 mils/8 sheets and a dry machine direction (MD) to cross machine direction (CD) tensile ratio of less than about 1.0.

Abstract: A sheet product dispenser includes a transfer bar, a roller assembly, a motor, a sensor, and a controller. The transfer bar is movable between first and second positions. The roller assembly, disposed proximate the transfer bar second position, has a drive roller and a pinch roller that define a nip. The motor is in operable communication with the transfer bar to move the transfer bar between the first and second positions. The sensor is in operable communication with the dispenser cover. The controller is in operable communication with the sensor and the motor, and is responsive to executable instructions to facilitate actuation of the motor in response to a signal from the sensor to cause the transfer bar to move between the first position and second positions. The transfer bar includes at least one finger that drives an end of a roll of sheet product towards the nip upon actuation of the transfer bar from the first position to the second position.
