Abstract: A sheet product (e.g., napkin) dispenser may include an example calibration system and method for a product depletion curve for accurately determining a product level. An example sheet product dispenser includes a housing, a roll holder, a dispensing mechanism, a sensor, and a controller. The sensor is configured to emit a signal toward the product roll and receive a return signal. The controller is configured to receive a calibration product roll and operate the sensor to emit the signal and receive the return signal. The controller determines a brightness value of the return signal and determines a calibration value associated with the determined brightness value. The determined brightness value is within a range of brightness values associated with the calibration value. The controller adjusts a product depletion curve based on at least the determined calibration value and the determined brightness value. Additionally, example product level notification systems are provided herein.

Abstract: A method of reducing sheet product waste generated during use of a sheet product dispenser in a particular location and over a broad range of usage rates includes designing a dispenser. The design includes determining a desired housing size to obtain a top to bottom height for sheet product roll storage within the housing, dividing the height by two to obtain a maximum roll diameter, locating two roll holders in the housing so that each holder may accept a roll having the maximum roll diameter, positioning a first roll of the maximum roll diameter in a first one of the two roll holders, and positioning a second roll of the maximum roll diameter in a second one of the two roll holders so that two rolls of equivalent length are configured to be dispensed sequentially from the dispenser. The installation and use of two rolls of maximum roll diameter reduces waste. Dispensers formed according to this method are also described.
Abstract: A system for producing a paper product. The system includes a paper machine, an analysis tool, and a converting line. The paper machine forms a paper web having a plurality of sections, inspects the paper web to identify web properties, and marks the paper web with a plurality of marks. The analysis tool assigns action scores to each section of the paper web based upon the identified properties that section of the paper web. The converting line reads at least one of the plurality of marks on the paper web, obtains the action score associated with a second one of the plurality of marks, calculates a distance between the at least one mark read by the reading unit and the second one of the plurality of marks, and changes at least one operational parameter of the converting line when the calculated distance is less than a threshold.

Abstract: Products having improved caliper, sheet bulk and absorbency and methods for making those products are described. The method, comprises producing a multi-ply product having different emboss patterns on each ply where the emboss patterns are made up of emboss elements having an aspect ratio of from about 1 to about 2.
Abstract: Described herein are methods and systems for minimizing folding defects when rolling a paper product. The method comprises rotating a roll in a manner that draws a paper product toward the roll. The location of a pick-up point between the roll and the paper product is altered by influencing the air pressure experienced by the paper product. This may be accomplished by flowing air in one of several manners described in the specification.

Abstract: A multi-ply bath tissue includes a first ply providing a first surface of the bath tissue. The first ply includes first and second layers. The first layer forms the first surface and includes a temporary wet strength resin. The second layer is substantially free from a temporary wet strength resin. A second ply provides a second surface of the bath tissue. The second ply includes first and second layers. The first layer forms the second surface and includes a temporary wet strength resin. The second layer is substantially free from a temporary wet strength resin. The bath tissue is free from regenerated cellulosic microfibers.
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses regarding an improved product dispenser are provided herein. The product dispenser includes a housing and a photoelectric power device disposed on an external surface of the housing. The product dispenser may include a power storage device configured to store energy provided via the photoelectric power device. The product dispenser may also include a motor or pump configured to operate to provide a dispense of the product. The product dispenser components, including the photoelectric power device, the power storage device, and the electric motor may be aligned to operate at a system voltage such that no voltage adjustment relative to an output of the photoelectric power device is needed. This reduces electric power losses. The product dispenser may be configured to perform an installation routine to aid in proper placement of the product dispenser with respect to receiving light for powering the photoelectric power device.

Abstract: A package has a flexible package body and a handle for carrying the package. The flexible package body has at least six faces and a reclosable opening on a face of the flexible package body. The handle is positioned over the reclosable opening and has a first strap, a second strap, and a connection portion. The first strap includes a first end and a second end. The first end of the first strap is attached to one face of the package body. The second strap includes a first end and a second end. The first end of the second strap is attached to another face of the package body that is opposite to the face that is attached to the first strap. The connection portion is located on the second end of the second strap and is detachably engaged to the second end of the first strap.
Abstract: A stroke adjuster and an associated dispenser are provided. An example embodiment provides a dispenser configured to dispense a fluid or foam and comprising a housing and a stroke adjuster. The housing comprises at least one housing engagement surface and defines an adjuster receiving area. The adjuster receiving area is configured to receive the stroke adjuster in one of either a first orientation or a second orientation. When the stroke adjuster is oriented within the dispenser in the first orientation a first surface is oriented upward and, when the dispenser is activated, a lower pump engagement surface of the pump is engaged by the first surface of the stroke adjuster. When the stroke adjuster is oriented within the dispenser in the second position a second surface is oriented upward and, when the dispenser is activated, the lower pump engagement surface is engaged by the housing engagement surface.
